The Faculty of Science of the University of Geneva is an internationally recognized leading research institution.

This cutting-edge research covers various scientific disciplines: astronomy, biology, chemistry and biochemistry, computer science, mathematics, physics, pharmaceutical sciences, earth sciences, and the environment.

The Faculty hosts three National Centres of Competence in Research of the highly competitive Swiss National Sciences Foundation (Chemical Biology; SwissMAP; Planets) and many European research projects.

The Faculty of Science, with the support of external partners, has established an Excellence Fellowship program open to outstanding and highly motivated students who wish to pursue a Master of Science degree in one of the disciplines covered by the Faculty. Candidate selection is based on excellence.

Eligibility

The fellowships are open to students from any university with very good performance in their studies (belonging to the best 10% of their bachelor’s program) who have completed the Bachelor’s degree or expect to complete it within 6 months.

The selection of the applicants will be based on excellence.

Level/Field of Study

Masters of Science Programme in Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Earth Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Computer Sciences, Mathematics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Physics offered by the Faculty of Science.

Host Nationality

The host institution for this fellowship is the University of Geneva in Switzerland.

Eligible Nationality

All students, including international students.

Application Instructions

For the application to be considered, each student has to fulfil the enrollment procedure as described on the Admissions Office website.

The application (in English or French) must include the following documents in the form of a SINGLE pdf file:

  • A scan of your national identity card or passport.
  • A scan of your UNIGE card or, if you are not yet a UNIGE student, the mail of the central administration named “accuse-reception de votre demande d’immatriculation” (proof you have started the matriculation process).
  • A Curriculum Vitae (2 pages maximum).
  • The transcript of exams passed during the bachelor education, with all grades.
  • A motivation letter in which you describe your specific scientific interests and your motivation to pursue a Master of Science program at the University of Geneva.
  • If possible: Letters of reference from two professors (preferably sent by them directly to [email protected]) attesting your aptitude to this program.
  • Any other pertinent information like results of GRE (General requirement examination), or TOEFL or other language tests.

University Of Geneva Enrollment And General Information

The Admissions Office website provides a thorough explanation of the enrollment process. Ask the appropriate Master coordinator or the Academic Advisor for additional queries.

The application deadline for Master’s programs beginning in September is April 30.

The enrollment deadline is 30 November, and under some circumstances, a start in the Spring semester is also an option.
