About AAUW Bursaries & Scholarships
Since 1881 AAUW has been empowering women all around the globe. In South Africa, women have a constitutional right, yet they are still faced daily with barriers of violence and inequality of a slowly changing male hierarchical culture. Therefore, women still have many challenges to overcome in South Africa.
This phenomenal organization touches the lives of women all around the world, providing them with opportunities to raise and increase their own lives, in addition to the life of the people that they reach.
This organization promotes fairness in all aspects of life through education, research, and even advocacy.
The boost with more than a thousand branches and 800 University and College partners. They offer exclusive programs for women from all walks of life and they are open to women of all ages, nationalities, race, creed, class, and sexuality.
Yearly they assist more than 200 women with AAUW Bursaries grants and AAUW fellowships.
All You Need to Know
Bursaries Supplied by AAUW are for applicants wishing to complete Full-Time studies at one of the Accredited Institutes of Higher Learning within the boundaries of the United States.
Level/Field of Study
This program offers applicants studying towards graduate or postgraduate within their own preferred disciplines, an opportunity to complete their studies while in the US.
The areas of study that are available comprise all approved study fields or research fields that are offered by any of the selected Institutes within the US.
Host Nationality:
This Scholarship is to be taken in SOUTH AFRICA.
Eligible Nationality:
Candidates must Be a citizen from among the following countries:
- Zambia
- South Africa
- Namibia
- Swaziland
- Lesotho
- Zimbabwe
- Botswana
- Mozambique
Scholarship Benefits:
Their different scholarships are valued from $18 up to $30 000. These amounts depend on the study path chosen by the selected candidates.

AAUW Bursaries Requirements
Interested individuals can apply when they meet stipulated conditions. Women that are active within their own communities, have a commitment to assisting others, and dedicated to being professional in all aspects of their lives, will be given preference.
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree within their field of study and it must be of equal position as that of a US bachelor’s degree to be acceptable.
They must have achieved this degree by the time of application.
The candidates should be proficient in English, writing, reading and verbally.
Candidates must intend on returning to their own country and home after completion of their studies.

Once submissions open, candidates are welcome to begin their application process. Candidates may find extra information about their funding and process.
Their assistance to women will not end with their bursaries, in addition, they offer support for anyone that come back to their home countries and begin their very own assistance projects.

AAUW Bursaries Deadline
Annual applications for this bursary program closes on the 1st of December. Applicants have to make sure that their applications together with requested documentation are ready before this date.
