About APHA Communication

Interns at Communications Practitioners support communication efforts by supporting media work, marketing, communication strategy, and planning, as well as creating and planning content for APHA’s social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.

The work also includes communication support for National Public Health Week, APHA’s annual meeting and exhibition and the APHA Get Ready Campaign and blogging for PublicHealthNewswire.org.
Trainees may have the opportunity to support The Nation’s Health by writing messages. All APHA trainees also work on the association’s “Get Ready” campaign, write blog posts, and work on group projects every semester.

The Department of Communications has the opportunity to disseminate the United Nations public health message and support communication activities related to advocacy, public health issues, events and more.

Eligibility for APHA Internship in Communications 2022

• Experience working in the media, public relations, access point style, strategic communication, and social media is as beneficial as writing with preference and willingness
• In order for the trainee to maximize their experience, students must work at least four days a week.

• Cover letter detailing your areas of interest and expertise, what you can expect from an APHA internship, why you want to do an internship at APHA, and the availability and schedule you want.

• Two examples of writing, 1 to 2 pages each (published or taken from school work)
• Three references (names, e-mail addresses, and phone numbers of three people you know enough to discuss your qualifications, such as an employer or teacher).
