University of South Wales International Scholarships for Ugandan Students 

The University of South Wales is a popular choice amongst Ugandan students and the institution has been visited by Ugandan students and also welcomed students from other countries to its campuses for many years. The university has made available University of South Wales International Scholarships for Ugandan Students to take advantage of.

Self-financing students from Uganda studying at the undergraduate level are also able to take advantage of their guaranteed Chancellor’s International Development Scholarships of £2,500 per year!

Students from Uganda appreciate the scholarships offered by the University and have enjoyed the high standard of living but the relatively low cost of living that South Wales offers.

Brief Description

The University of South Wales offers scholarships for self-funding international students.

As an applicant, you will be automatically considered for one of these awards when we receive your application.

You do not need to make a separate application and confirmation of the scholarship will be included in your offer letter.

Undergraduate degree Courses – £1,500 per year
Postgraduate degree courses – £2,000
Master of Business Administration (MBA) – £1,500
Chancellor’s International Development Scholarships

You will receive confirmation of any scholarship award with your offer letter.

Applicants must pay the minimum deposit stipulated in the offer letter by the date stated on the Acceptance Form in order to secure their scholarship.

The scholarships do not apply to IFP, English language courses or placement years.

Students sponsored by their government or by a company are not eligible for the scholarships.

Undergraduate International Development Scholarships of £2,500 are available for students from the following countries:

This scholarship would replace the standard £1,500 undergraduate scholarship and is available only for those students studying a full undergraduate degree.

Higher National Diploma students and Foundation Degree students are not eligible for the Chancellor’s International Development Scholarship.

You will be automatically considered for a scholarship when you make your application. You do not need to make a separate scholarship application.

You will receive confirmation of a scholarship with your offer letter.

Scholarships and discounts do not apply to sponsored students or those studying a placement year, the IFP, or English Language Programmes.

Scholarships may be withdrawn if conditions of the scholarships are not adhered to.

International scholarships for BSc (Hons) Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Top-Up

Please note that the standard international scholarship for the 180 credit BSc (Hons) Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Top-Up is £2,250.

Students eligible for the Chancellor’s Development Scholarship may be considered for a scholarship of £3,750 for this particular undergraduate program.

Scholarship Requirements

Foundation Entry requirements

  • The International Year of the Foundation (Intensive English) is available to those who have an average grade of C or 6 or higher in the East African Education Certificate (EACE) / Cambridge Overseas School Certificate (COSC) / Uganda Certificate (UCE) ) and have an IELTS score of 5.0 progressing to their undergraduate degree.
  • Students who have a good level of English (IELTS 6.0 or equivalent) will be considered for the years of our Faculty.

Undergraduate Entry Requirements

English Requirements

English proficiency is essential for undergraduate study. The University of South Wales recognizes the following qualifications in English:

  • COSC / GCSE / O-Level English language Grade C or higher
  • IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each band)

Do not worry if you do not meet these requirements, as we offer a variety of English courses.

Academic qualifications

  • Applicants who have followed the level A curriculum can be considered to enter the university; the normal UCAS rate will apply
  • Applicants who have followed the IB Diploma curriculum can be considered to enter the bachelor’s degree; the normal UCAS rate will apply
  • Applicants with a Certificate of Advanced Education from East Africa will be considered on the same basis as Level A in the United Kingdom
  • Undergraduate Applicants: Applicants with a Uganda Certificate of Advanced Education will be considered on the same basis as UK A level applicants to enter university.
  • Applicants with a Cambridge High School Certificate Abroad (COHSC) will be considered on the same basis as UK A-level applicants to enter university.

Postgraduate Entry Requirements

English proficiency is essential for postgraduate study. The University of South Wales recognizes the following qualifications in English:

  • COSC / GCSE / O-Level English in grade C or higher
  • Postgraduate study: IELTS with a general score of 6.0 with at least 5.5 in each component. Please note that some courses may require a higher level of English language proficiency than the standard requirements of the University. See the course page for more information.

Do not worry if you do not meet these requirements, as we offer a variety of English courses.

  • The bachelor’s / bachelor’s degree with a score of 12-13 (well assez) and higher can be admitted to a relevant graduate course.

University of South Wales International Scholarships -FAQs

UK students can study for free in 11 countries. If the home students do not pay any fees, the UK students are also entitled to study for free. In total, 10 EU countries, as well as Norway, do not charge undergraduate students tuition fees.

Tuition at Welsh universities is slightly (and we mean slightly) cheaper than in England, with the annual limit for UK and EU students capped at £9,000 (in England it’s £9,250). International students can expect to pay more than UK and EU students – typically £13,000/year and up.
