How To Apply for Athabasca Scholarships

Student Award Application Format Instructions;

  • Download the PDF application form to your desktop,
  • Then open the file from your desktop using Adobe Reader and complete and save the form.
  • Do not use your browser to complete the form, as the data may not save correctly.
  • Once you have completed and saved the form.
  • Re-open it and review your entries before submitting them to the award submission portal.

Aboriginal First Year Graduate Studies Tuition Scholarship

This annual university student scholarship is open to students enrolled in the Graduate Diploma Program at Athabasca University. The applicant must be of Aboriginal descent and commit to the field.

The applicant must also have the potential to become a leader within the Canadian heritage community. A separate application is required.

Alberta Blue Cross 50th Anniversary Bursary

The Alberta Blue Cross 50th Anniversary Bursary is a university student scholarship awarded annually to two current AU undergraduate nursing degree students who have achieved the highest grade average on two three credit nursing courses taken through Athabasca University.

The grade average on the two AU nursing courses must be at least 80 percent or better. Eligible students must be residents of Alberta and demonstrate financial need. Students can receive these scholarships once only.

Applicants must meet have demonstrated financial need to be eligible for this scholarship. Applying students should submit the completed application, and any supporting documents, to the Student Awards Administrative Assistant, Office of the Registrar at Athabasca University.

AU Academic Leadership Scholarship value

This scholarship is open to current Athabasca University (AU) undergraduate students in any degree program.

Students earning credit towards an AU Bachelor’s degree designation who have achieved a cumulative Athabasca University grade point average (GPA) of 3.60 or higher and have completed at least 15 Athabasca University credits are eligible to apply.

Preference will be given to applicants who have proven leadership skills and/or have contributed to their local community via volunteerism and active participation in extracurricular cultural and/or recreational activities. Students are eligible to receive this award once within any five years.

Scholarship Worth

Excellence in Research Scholarship

This scholarship is open to Athabasca University graduate degree program students who have achieved a cumulative AU GPA of 3.60 or higher and have completed at least 15 AU credits in the Athabasca University graduate degree program in which the student is enrolled.

Preference will be given to applicants who have the potential to make a significant contribution to the research in their area of study. Students can only receive this award once while completing their graduate degree program.

Human Resources Institute of Alberta Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded annually to a student enrolled in one of the Athabasca University (AU) undergraduate programs that focus on human resources (Bachelor of Administration Industrial Relations and Human Resources (BADM IRHR) program, Bachelor of Management Human Resources Management (BMAN HRM), or Bachelor of Human Resources and Labour Relations (BHRLR), University Certificate in Human Resources and Labour Relations (UC – HRLR).

The applicant must have a current AU cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher and have completed at least 9 AU credits in his or her current program. Preference will be given to those actively pursuing a career in Human Resources and contributing to the community and/or student affairs.

Lois Hole Humanities and Social Science Scholarship

Value: $5,000

In honor of Lois Hole, Lieutenant Governor of Alberta from February 2000 to January 2005, the scholarship recognizes student leadership and community service, which exemplify the principles the late Lieutenant Governor believed in and lived.

An applicant must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident and an Alberta Resident. To be eligible, the applicant must have a GPA of 3. (https://coloredmanga.com/) 6 or greater, have completed 15 AU credits, and have full-time enrollment in the second or subsequent year of post-secondary study in an AU undergraduate art or social science degree program.

Submission of the fully completed application, and required enclosures, to the Student, Awards Administrative Assistant within the Office of the Registrar at AU by the deadline.
