Who Should Apply for British Council Study UK Alumni Award?

The British Council will only consider applications from eligible candidates. And, this call for applications is open to only UK alumni living outside of the UK only.

By implication, applications from UK alumni residents in the United Kingdom will not be put into consideration let alone make it to the finalist stage.

Also, applicants who are not global award winners may re-apply if they meet the eligibility criteria below.

To become a finalist, an applicant must have:

  • studied within the last 15 years (i.e. 2006 – 2023)
  • been enrolled at an officially recognized UK higher education institution at a degree level or above
  • studied either at a UK university in the UK, for a minimum of one term or semester, OR awarded a full UK degree level qualification (or higher), by a recognized or listed UK HEI, outside the UK.

This category recognizes alumni who are active in initiating or contributing to innovative or creative new ideas, solutions, or business opportunities, that have the potential for strong growth.

This UK alumni award recognizes alumni who have made an exceptional contributions and commitment to creating positive social change and improving the lives of others.

What are the Judging Criteria for Study UK Alumni Awards?

Upon reception of applications, entries will be judged based on the following criteria:

UK Alumni Award judges will need evidence of tangible impact, and scale of impact, of your work (inspired by your UK education) in your profession/community/society.

Your application must show evidence of how your UK education has played a key influence on your success and impact.

Applicants must show in their applications the extent to which their success story is likely to resonate with local/regional/national media in their country of entry, or beyond (global media).

Judges will consider the extent to which (including capacity and willingness) you and your story are likely to influence and inspire the next generation of prospective internationally mobile students in your country of entry to choose the UK as their study destination.

The quality of your application is put into consideration in determining who gets to the finalist stage and who doesn’t.

When Is the Application Deadline for the UK Alumni Awards 2023?

Applications for all categories begin on 2nd September and end on 30th October 2023. All applications sent later than this will not be valid. Below is a table showing important dates for this journey.
