About the Buckley Country Day School
Buckley Country Day School is an independent, co-educational day school providing elementary and middle education to 330 students with toddlers 8 and under in Roslyn, New York State.
Buckley was founded in 1923 and opened the doors of its first building in Great Neck to a class of 23 children. It started as a day school, but for a period of time it accepted boarding school students in the middle grades.
It is chartered from the Board of Regents of the University of New York State. The school is accredited by the New York State Association of Independent Schools and a member of the National Association of Independent Schools.
Buckley Country Day School Campus
Buckley has a 100,000 square foot campus that includes a classroom building, library, three sports fields, tennis courts and a playground. The building houses all of the classrooms, two science labs, two computer labs, an art studio, a wood shop, and three gyms.
The recently completed Hagedorn Library Learning Center comprises over 16,000 volumes and is already used by students in kindergarten.
There are four outdoor pools on campus, which are only open in summer during Buckley Camp and at end-of-year parties, as well as a pond.
The campus was developed on land that was once part of a colonial farm owned by Isaac Underhill Willets.

The Buckley Early Childhood Program includes our programs for toddlers, kindergarten, kindergarten, and kindergarten.
The toddler program offers a smooth transition from home to school in a loving and caring environment. Independence, creativity, imagination and early language skills are encouraged through socialization and play.
In our kindergarten and pre-kindergarten programs, children are given the opportunity to explore the world around them in a safe environment.

Buckley Hagedorn Library
The Hagedorn Library Learning Center is a beautiful, easy-to-use facility that doubles as an information center for exploration and knowledge.
It is a place where students learn to love literature and effectively process and use information in all formats.
It features a state-of-the-art multimedia room, enrichment room, additional classrooms, high and low school book collections, a storytelling room with picture books and early childhood resources, a reference collection, and networked computers including wireless laptops.
Fourth grade students in kindergarten have a scheduled library lesson once a week. In the fifth and sixth grade middle school, students meet for one period per week as part of a combined library and technology program.
