California Virtual Academies Review

California Virtual Academies (CAVA) are  9 virtual charter schools with business agreements with the curriculum-provider K12 Inc.

The nine virtual charter schools are: 

  1. California Virtual Academy At Fresno
  2. At Kings
  3. CAVA At Los Angeles
  4. California Virtual Academy At Maricopa
  5. California Virtual Academy At San Diego
  6. CAVA At San Joaquin
  7. California Virtual Academy At San Mateo
  8. California Virtual Academy At Sonoma
  9. At Sutter.

Notwithstanding, all public charter Academies are nonprofit organizations; they are affiliated them with a for-profit company, K12 Incorporation. All 9 academies have their own autonomous board of Directors but follow the educational rules of E. D. Hirsch Jr.

They allocate each student to a California-credentialed group-based tutor with thirty to thirty-five students each. The schools, like most K12 Incorporation-supplied academies, loan the student textbooks and a computer so the student can have access to online lessons.

You should note that parents’ kindergarteners must be 5 years old by September 1 of the upcoming school year to enroll.

Students who will turn 5 during the school year, but after the September 1 cut-off may be eligible, and they may require them to enlist in Transitional Kindergarten.

1. California Virtual Academy At San Mateo

Students have the chance to take Advanced Placement coursework and exams. The total minority enlisting is about 59%, and 45% of students are disadvantaged in terms of economy.

The Academy is the only high school in San Mateo District.

2. CVA High At Maricopa

The total minority enlisting is about 58%, and 69% of students are disadvantaged in terms of economy.

California Virtual Academy High at Maricopa is the only high school in the Insight School of California District.

3. CVA At Los Angeles

The California Virtual Academy offers very juicy programs, which are usually quite enticing for novices and are oblivious of the challenges they may face. At the same time, they register their child in a Charter School.

Truth is, despite the cons, the pros far outweigh the cons. It’s therefore important to note that you must focus on the positives to make headway in a tuition-free online program.
