Study in Angola

Education in Angola
Although by law, education in Angola is compulsory and free for eight years, the Government indicates that a percentage of students do not attend this school due to the lack of school buildings and teachers. Students often have to pay extra school fees, such as books and school supplies.
According to estimates by the UNESCO Institute for Statistics, the adult literacy rate was 70.4% in 2011. By 2015, this percentage had increased to 71.1%. In 2001, 82.9% of men and 54.2% of women knew how to read and write.
Since the independence of Portugal in 1975, several Angolan students have been admitted every year to secondary schools, polytechnics, colleges, and universities in Portugal, Brazil, and Cuba through bilateral agreements. In general, these students belong to the elite.
In September 2014, the Ministry of Education of Angola announced an investment of 16 million euros in the computerization of more than 300 classrooms throughout the country.
The project also includes teacher training at the national level, "as a means to introduce and use new information technologies in primary schools, which reflects an improvement in the quality of education."
