Mapping out a career path you would want to take for the rest of your life can be tricky. Given the vast college majors and specializing tracks to choose from, deciding what career to pursue can be more difficult.

Thankfully, some fields are always in search of young, fresh minds. With this in mind, here are some college majors offering great scholarship opportunities to students who would brave and pursue their fields:

Entrepreneur

Through the Social Entrepreneur Award, the Students Serving Washington Awards awards winning student teams $10,000 in seed grant funding to implement and develop their service project the following academic year.

To win this grant, student teams at WACC member institutions must address the questions and challenges that the Washington Campus Compact will raise. Student teams must develop novel, innovative solutions and present a project narrative, logic model, budget, and a literature review to answer the questions and challenges posed.

To qualify preliminarily, students:

  • Must be currently enrolled for a minimum of 6 units at any Washington Campus Compact member institution;
  • Must identify one college or university sponsor, faculty or administrator, or community partner, public or private, who will submit a letter of recommendation;
  • Must submit a maximum of six (6) photos and (1) short video, less than two minutes, that “tells the story” of the service project.

Engineering

In 1993, Albuquerque businessman C.E. “Woody” Woodcock, and his wife, Dixie, established the ACF Woodcock Family Education Scholarship Program to support exceptional, promising students in the science and math tracks. Scholarships are granted to Albuquerque Metro Area high school graduating seniors, including Bernalillo, Sandoval, Valencia, and Torrance Counties.

To qualify for this scholarship program, applicants:

  • Must demonstrate strong math and science credentials;
  • Must have plans to enroll full-time at a college or university;
  • Must have a minimum of 3.8 GPA;
  • Must have a minimum ACT composite score of 30 or a minimum SAT-Math score of 680.

The scholarship grants two to three deserving students with $10,000, payable over four years.

Finance

It doesn’t matter whether you are working at one of the local title loan places or on Wall Street; it is always better to start your career with a finance scholarship.

For students considering or already pursuing an undergraduate degree in any financial service-related field, such as finance, accounting, insurance or risk management, actuarial sciences, and other business-related fields, the Paul S. Mills Scholarship Program might be the best for you.

To qualify for the scholarship program, the FSP organization usually conducts an initial phone interview to check the applicants’ eligibility. The organization usually selects three to six deserving students who will each receive $1,000.

Special Education

Teacher.org strongly believes that teachers are capable of inspiring and shaping the future.

Teacher.org is actively looking for teachers to support, whether experienced and is continuing their education or candidates who are only just beginning with the process. Teacher.org is granting $500 to support teachers with their education and its associated expenses.
