What types of scholarships are offered?
Fanshawe College offers the following types of scholarships:
- Program-specific scholarships
- College-wide and graduation scholarships
- International student scholarships
- Entrance (first-time student) scholarships
- Athletic scholarships
- Continuing education and mature student scholarships
- Scholarships for students with disabilities
- External Scholarships.
Athletic scholarships are for students who are currently members of a varsity athletics team (i.e. is on the team’s official roster) or who have contributed in some way to the Fanshawe College Athletics Department.
In most cases, students do not have to apply for athletic scholarships, as the selection will be made by nomination or referral. There are many scholarship opportunities available for international students who are currently enrolled or attending Fanshawe College with a valid study permit and international visa.
These international opportunities can be accessed through the Fanshawe online application system. Fanshawe College also offers scholarships to students who wish to study abroad in a country outside of North America.
There are some entrance scholarship opportunities offered to students who have recently graduated from high school and those who have accepted their offer of admission to attend a specific program at Fanshawe College. Most of these opportunities do not require students to apply, as they are based primarily on the students’ overall admission average.

In most cases, each scholarship funding will first be applied towards any outstanding balance on the student’s tuition account. Any remaining balance of funding will be disbursed in the form of a cheque made out to the student.
Most scholarships are presented at one of the Fanshawe College Foundation annual awards ceremonies, where the scholarship will likely be received in the form of a cheque unless otherwise specified by the donor.
Eligibility
Students who are currently enrolled full-time at Fanshawe College and/or currently attending Fanshawe College on a full-time basis.
Eligible students should have a minimum GPA, enrolment in a specific program or area of study, demonstration of specific skills or experience, involvement within the College/campus or community, and volunteerism.
Level/Field of Study
Students who are currently enrolled full-time for their undergraduate study at Fanshawe College and/or currently attending Fanshawe College on a full-time basis.
Host Nationality
All the Fanshawe College scholarships are hosted in the United Kingdom.

International Returning Student Award
The International Returning Student Award is currently open to all international visa students with a valid Study Permit, who are registered full time in level 2 or above of a Fanshawe post-secondary program.
Eligible applicants should have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 from the previous semester(s) of the Fanshawe post-secondary program. Students must have participated in college activities at the program, school or broader college level.
The student must include a one-page statement of their involvement on campus and include a letter of recommendation from a staff or faculty member of Fanshawe College. Recipient Students can only win this award once in their lifetime.
Online application periods are: May 1, 20 – June 15, 2023, September 1, 2023 – October 15, 2023, and January 2, 2023 – February 15, 2023
Scotiabank International Leadership Scholarship
The Scotiabank International Leadership Scholarship is currently open to all international visa students who have a valid Study Permit and are registered full time in Level 3 (third semester) of any diploma or degree program at Fanshawe College with a minimum 3.5 GPA who have participated in college activities at the program, school, or college community level.
The recipient must be from a country outside North America where Scotiabank operates a business and prove to have not received another Scotiabank Leadership Award or any other Fanshawe College International Award (excluding President’s Honour Roll) in their lifetime. The Scotiabank International Leadership Scholarship is an online application based.
Kim Rowe Memorial Award
The Kim Rowe Memorial Award has been established for full-time International Visa students with a valid Study Permit, who have successfully completed their first year of a two-year diploma, advanced diploma, degree program, or post-graduate program at Fanshawe College and enrolled in their second year (level 3) of their program.

Students must have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and must describe how they demonstrate kindness, empathy, and commitment to the international life and community at Fanshawe College (maximum of 250 words).
Scotiabank International Student Achievement Award
The Scotiabank International Student Achievement Award is open to all international visa students who have a valid Study Permit and are registered full time in Level 3 (third semester) of any Fanshawe College program with a minimum 3.0 GPA who demonstrates leadership and college/community involvement. Online application based.
