What you need to know 

Bursaries applications can be submitted throughout the year, as some of these bursaries do not have an appointed closing date. Still, candidates applying for CSIR BURSARY are urged to send their applications ahead of time, so it reaches them before the closing date.

Level/Field of Study:

FirstRand Laurie Dippenaar scholarship is for postgraduate international study, available to South African students in virtually any field at an international university of their own choice.

Host Nationality:

Eligible Nationality:

Scholarship Benefits:

The bursary may cover the following expenses: registration costs, tuition fees, prescribed textbooks allowance, accommodation, meal allowance, laptop allowance, and a living allowance.

The bursary is worth R750 000 yearly. The successful candidate will be asked to come back to South Africa for five or more years after graduation.

The following qualifications will be considered in the awarding of the scholarship:

  • Excellent academic performance 
  • Leadership skills  
  • Community involvement
  • Applicants who are under 35 years of age will be given a preference.
  • An accredited educational institution should already accept applicants.
