#1. GHANA TECHNOLOGY UNIVERSITY COLLEGE

Ghana Technology University College, formerly Ghana Telecom University College, started in 2005. The national telecommunications company Ghana Telecom founded the prestigious university.

They provide bachelor’s degrees and graduate programs, particularly in Telecommunications Engineering, Information, and Communications Technologies.

It also offers certificate programs, courses that provide bachelor’s degree credit, and other professional development seminars and workshops.

GTUC’s main campus is in the Tesano section of Accra, Republic of Ghana. A second campus has been opened in nearby Abeka, a nearby Accra suburb, and a satellite campus at Nungua.

In addition, there are satellite campuses in Kumasi, Takoradi, Koforidua & Ho.

#2. SHESI UNIVERSITY

Ashesi University is a private, non-profit liberal arts college in Ghana, West Africa. It offers a four-year bachelor’s program grounded in a liberal core curriculum featuring majors in Business. It started in 2002.

Ashesi is also the best University that trains a student for industrialization, with one of the best campuses in Ghana.

Ashesi offers various courses, making them the Second best Information Technology University in Ghana after  Ghana Technology University College.

Tuition Fees: For the 2023/2024 academic year, tuition fees are $3,758 per semester, which also covers textbooks.

The Presbyterian University College, Ghana, is a partially private & public university located at Abetifi-Kwahu in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

It is one of the new universities in Ghana granted accreditation by the National Accreditation Board. 

The Presbyterian Church of Ghana started Presbyterian University College on 23 November 2003, and it was inaugurated on 27 March 2004 by the president of Ghana, John Agyekum Kufuor.

#4. VALLEY VIEW UNIVERSITY

The Valley View University is a private university in Oyibi, Accra, in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. It forms part of a worldwide system of over 100 tertiary institutions operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

The university began as Adventist Missionary College and was located in Bekwai-Ashanti. It was transferred to Adentan near Accra in 1983, operating in rented facilities.

In 1989, it was relocated to its site near Oyibi (19 miles down Accra-Dodowa Road). And was renamed Valley View College.

The National Accreditation Board (Ghana) granted its national accreditation in 1995, thus allowing the university to award its degrees. Thus, Valley View University became the first private institution in Ghana to be granted national accreditation.

#5. WISCONSIN INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY COLLEGE GHANA

Wisconsin International University College is one of Ghana’s earliest established private universities. It is located at Agbogba Junction near Kwabenya in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana.

It started in January 2000 and is accredited by the National Accreditation Board as a university college and affiliated to the University of Ghana, the University of Cape Coast, and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

The Accra Institute of Technology is an independent technology-focused research university in Accra, Ghana. The university comprises six schools and three institutes. 

AIT is accredited by the National Accreditation Board (Ghana), of the Ministry of Education in Ghana to offer campus-based and open university programs in various fields.

The programs on campus are at the undergraduate level in engineering, computer science, information technology, and business administration.

#7. METHODIST UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF GHANA

The Methodist University College Ghana is a private university in Ghana. It is located in Accra in the Greater Accra Region.

It was established in October 2000 by the Methodist Church Ghana after being granted accreditation by the National Accreditation Board in August 2000.

Academic work started in November 2000 at the Wesley Grammar School campus. The university has five faculties comprising departments that report to their respective deans.

#8. CENTRAL UNIVERSITY

The International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) in Accra, Ghana, founded the Central University. It started off as a pastoral training institute in Dansoman in 1988 and later became the Central Bible College by June 1991.

In 1993, it was the Central Christian College and eventually became the Central University College in 1997.

The university stated aims is to provide an “integrated and biblically-based tertiary education with particular reference to the needs of the African continent”.

It is currently the biggest private university in Ghana.

Central University College 2023/2024 Fees schedule are to be settled by the student before registration of the academic year.

The fees are for the whole academic year but students can be allowed to register after paying a percentage of the fees. The remaining fees must be paid before the beginning of the second semester.

This 44-year-old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students’ past academic records and grades.

Founded in 1974, Christian Service University College is a non-profit private higher education institution in the urban village of Santasi-Kumasi.

Numerous distinguished Catholic Universities have been established worldwide by the Catholic Church, inclusive is the Catholic University College of Ghana. The university is among the very dignified private universities.

Over the years the Catholic University of Ghana has moved to gain higher reputation nationally as well as international recognition.

The university is located in Ghana specifically at Fiapre, Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region.

It was granted accreditation by the National Accreditation Board on 4 December 2002. The first batch of students started on 3 March 2003. The formal inauguration of the university was on 13 November 2003.
