#1. Environmental Studies/Natural Science Scholarship Program

Award Amount: $1,000

Scholarship Description

The Friends of Volo Bog offers this scholarship annually for Environmental Studies/Natural Science college students.

Eligibility:

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must;

  • Be a High School Senior applying to study natural science or environmental studies at an accredited university /college.
  • Be a University /College Student to continue natural or environmental science studies at an accredited college.
  • Submit at least one signed letter of recommendation from a non-relative familiar with the goals and aptitude of applicants.
  • Applicants are to write a 300-400 word typed essay addressing one among the rest of the following choices below:
  • Relate a personal experience that has helped lead you to sign into a pursuit in the field of environmental studies
  • Give your motivation for choosing to enter the field of environmental studies a definition, etc.
  • Sealed official transcripts mailed to applicants from their current school’s registrar (these is not to be opened)
  • Applications must undergo postmarking two days before the deadline or be dropped off in person on the deadline.

#2. Clarkston Scholars Program

Award Amount: $10,000

Scholarship Description

A Clarkston Scholar is known for the following:

  • A highly-driven student, who excels in the classroom,
  • One who has a focused passion and interest in the life sciences industry and
  • And one who intends to enter the life sciences industry upon graduation.

This program, The Clarkston Scholars, will provide a scholarship award for one sophomore attending a four-year program in college/university at the undergraduate level in Pennsylvania and majoring in a life sciences-related field of study.

This scholarship award is dispersed once for a junior year and senior year. Furthermore, the Clarkston Scholar will receive mentorship with Clarkston Consulting and participation in Pennsylvania Bio events. Throughout the two-year scholarship award, this will expose the scholar to the life sciences industry.

Eligibility:

For applicants to be considered for being recipients, they must;

  • Be a sophomore at the university undergraduate program or four-year accredited college.
  • Attend a university or college in Pennsylvania.
  • Have and maintain a cumulative unweighted Grade Point Average of at least 3.0 for the full scholarship duration.
  • Be available to participate in an in-person interview in the greater Philadelphia area with a Clarkston Consulting representative as part of the finalist selection process.
  • Be in attendance at the scholarship award ceremony scheduled for March 9.
  • Have the willingness to be present in two events in the Philadelphia area annually to be approved by their Clarkston mentor.
  • Be a citizen of the U.S. or permanently residing in the United States, etc. Essay Applicants are to an assay of at most 500 words, stating their opinion of an issue impacting the pharmaceutical and biotech industry in the Pennsylvania state.

#3. Brown and Caldwell Minority Scholarship Program

Award Amount: $5,000

Application Deadline: April 15, annual

Scholarship Description

Brown and Caldwell values diversity in the workplace and support organizations like the National Society of Black Engineers, Society of Women Engineers, and the Society for Hispanic Professional Engineers.

Brown and Caldwell have also set up a Minority scholarship program aimed at helping minority groups achieve success in the industry of environmental engineering.

Criteria: For an applicant to be eligible to apply for this scholarship program, he/she must;

  • Be a citizen of the United States or permanently residing there.
  • Be a full-time student enrolled in his/her Junior, Senior year or graduate program at an accredited university /college.
  • Have a declared major in chemical, civil or environmental engineering or one of the environmental sciences (e.g. hydrogeology, biology, geology, ecology)
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent on a 5.0 scale).
  • Be a minority (e.g. Hispanic, African American, Asian or Pacific American or Alaska Native)

#4. AAAS Mass Media Science and Engineering Fellows Program

Application Deadline: January 15, annually

Scholarship Description

From the writing of a grant to interaction with their community, these skills will benefit a student’s career path. They will bring an increment to public understanding of science and technology.

This fellowship, The AAAS Mass Media Science & Engineering seeks to increase skills for communication between student scientists.

Students must be enrolled as a college or university student (graduate, doctoral, or upper-level undergraduates) or within one year of a completed degree – in the biological, physical, geological, health, engineering, computer, or social sciences or mathematics.

#5. 4-H Youth in Action

Award Amount: $5,000

Scholarship Description

This program, the 4-H Youth in Action, recognizes four confident young leaders who are members or alumni of 4-H between the ages of 16-19 in the core pillar areas of Civic Engagement, Agriculture, Healthy Living & STEM.

Each Pillar Winner will experience a year of excitement wherein he/she will be telling their 4-H story and celebrating their leadership. Winners of this scholarship award receive the following:

  • a scholarship of $5,000 for higher education,
  • a promotional video showcasing a story of their 4-H impact,
  • An all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, DC, for National 4-H Council’s Legacy Awards, networking opportunities with the 4-H celebrities and other prominent alumni and recognition as the official 4-H youth spokesperson for their pillar.

#6. AAUW Return to Learning Scholarships

Scholarship Description

The Lombard Area Branch of AAUW sponsors the “Return to Learning” scholarship to assist in completing an undergraduate or master’s degree or a program for certification.

Students must be residents of Addison, Lombard, Wheaton, Villa Park, Oakbrook Terrace, Glendale Heights or Glen Ellyn, Illinois, to apply and are forging ahead with their college education after a significant interruption is given to women who demonstrate an interest in a STEM field of study, strong academics, and financial need are given special consideration.

#8. ACF Barnes W. Rose, Jr. and Eva Rose Nichol Scholarship Program

Award Amount: $700

Application Deadline: March 16, annually

Scholarship Description

The scholarship fund for this scholarship program was established in 2003 in memory of Mr. Rose and honor of Eva.

Barnes graduated from the Albuquerque High School in 1951 and from West Point in 1957. Eva is a longtime resident of New Mexico.

Albuquerque High School graduate in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in one of the STEM majors: Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) will receive a scholarship award from the Fund.

Those pursuing engineering-related careers will be given priority.

Eligibility:

  • Applicants must have a Grade Point Average of at least 3.6
  • They must demonstrate financial need.
  • Applicants must be pursuing a degree in one of the STEM majors
  • Applicants are to write and submit a personal essay describing career goals related to the STEM majors. More so, they are to demonstrate a passion for their chosen career
  • At least one reference from an AHS math/science teacher is required.

#9. Bernold and Beatrice Pollard Scholarship Program

Award Amount: $1,900

Application Deadline: May 31, annually

Scholarship Description

Alaska Native/Native American undergraduate students attending tribal universities and colleges are eligible to apply for the American Indian College Fund Full Circle and the American Indian College Fund TCU Scholarship Programs.

Minimum general eligibility requirements for both scholarships include:

  • Citizenship with the U.S.
  • Being enrolled in an accredited tribal university or college
  • Registration as a member of a state or federally recognized tribe or a descendant of at least one grandparent or parent who is an enrolled tribal member (Native Corporation membership may also be used by Alaska Natives) is required.
  • Applicants are to complete and submit an online application

Extra Eligibility for the Bernold and Beatrice Pollard Scholarship Program:

  • Applicants are to be in pursuit of a bachelors degree
  • They are to have at least a GPA of 2.5
  • There is a preference for students from the Round Valley Indian Tribes of Northern California and the Indian Community of Fort Bidwell
  • Preference will be given to students in STEM fields

#10. Blandy Experimental Farm Undergraduate Research Education Program

Award Amount: $4,808

Scholarship Description

Blandy Experimental Farm, a University of Virginia ecology field station, is situated in Virginia’s beautiful Northern Shenandoah Valley.

Three research faculty from the Department of Environmental Sciences, graduate students and visiting scientists research reproductive ecology, habitat and community biodiversity, and plant/insect relationships.

The center of Blandy is occupied by the 175-acre State Arboretum of Virginia, and it delights visitors with it’s 8,000 native and exotic species specimens representing over 60 families of plant families.

The Blandy Experimental Farm is focused on increasing the understanding of the natural environment through education and research.

REU is an acronym for Research Experience for Undergraduates and is an NSF funded program that provides mentored research experiences to qualified undergraduate students.

Under the guidance of a faculty, Ph.D. candidate mentor or postdoctoral associate, the student will select, design, and conduct a project on field-based ecology research. A project proposal is expected to be developed by students.

They are to collect their data and present their findings in a final paper and an oral presentation at the end of the summer.

The duration of the program is over 10 weeks, generally from early June until early August, depending on the schedules of the University.

The summer intern community includes 20-25 undergraduate and graduate ecology research students. After the 10-week internship, the stipend offered is $4,808, and there is provision for free housing.

Dormitory-style housing in the historic Quarters building is the place of residence for students, and a full kitchen is available there to prepare meals.

Qualifications for the internship include coursework in the sciences, especially ecology, biology and environmental science preferred, and an interest or career goal in scientific research.

For internship consideration, an application package must be completed by students, which includes a copy of the current transcript, application form, and statement of career or academic goals as they relate to the internship and two letters of recommendation.

#11. Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship & Excellence in Education Program

Award Amount: $15,000

Application Deadline: January 27, annually

Awards Available: 250

This Foundation is aimed at awarding scholarships to college students who intend to pursue research careers in these fields: scientists, mathematicians, and engineers, thereby providing a continuing source of highly qualified professions as listed above.

Each scholarship caters for eligible expenses for undergraduate fees, tuition, books, and room and board, up to a maximum annual amount of $7,500.

Scholarship monies not used during one academic year can not/is not transferable to the academic year next to it.

Recipients of the junior-level scholarship are eligible for a maximum of four semesters (two years) of scholarship support, and recipients of the senior-level scholarship are eligible for a maximum of two semesters (one year).

Eligibility:

Applicant must;

  • Be a full-time junior or sophomore who has matriculated or is pursuing a degree and intends to pursue research careers in the natural sciences, mathematics, or engineering.
  • Have a college GPA of a minimum of a “B”/3.0 GPA and be in the upper fourth percentile of his/her class
  • Be a citizen of the United States, a permanent resident, or, in the case of students nominated from the Commonwealth of the Mariana Islands or American Samoa, a U.S. national

#12. Arizona Public Service Navajo Scholars Program for Tribal Colleges

Award Amount: $6,000

Application Deadline: May 31, annually

Alaska Native/Native American undergraduate students attending tribal colleges are eligible to apply for the American Indian College Fund Full Circle Scholarship Program and the American Indian College Fund TCU Scholarship Program.

#13. APIASF/Toyota Scholarship

Award Amount: $2,500

Application Deadline: January 11, annually

APIASF is an acronym for The Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund. It is the nation’s largest 501(c) 3 non-profit organization that provides scholarships to Asian and Pacific Islander Americans (APIAs) with the need for financial help.

Eligibility:

Applicants must;

  • Be of Pacific Islander and/or Asian ethnicity as defined by the United States Census.
  • Be either a citizen, legal permanent or national resident of the United States
  • Major in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)
  • Be in possession of a cumulative GPA of at least 2.7
  • Be enrolling as a full-time, degree-seeking, first-year student in the succeeding academic year
  • Students having no guardians or parents employed by Toyota Motor Sales USA
  • Demonstrate the need for financial help

Preference will be given to students located in Southern California and they must be able to be in attendance in Toyota scholarship event in Torrance, CA in the spring

#15. APIASF/Southern California Edison Scholarship

Award Amount: $2,500

Application deadline: January 11, annually

This Scholarship Fund is the largest 501(c) 3 non-profit organization in the nation that provides scholarships to Asian and Pacific Islander Americans (APIAs) with need for help financially.

Eligibility: Applicants must;

  • Be of Asian and/or Pacific Islander ethnicity as defined by the Census of the U.S.
  • Have a minimum CGPA of 2.7 or have earned a GED.
  • Must be a resident of Southern California Edison’s service area
  • Be enrolling as a full-time, degree-seeking student in the succeeding academic year.
  • Demonstrate the need for help financially and etc.

Students in pursuit of degrees in STEM fields will be given preference
