When you open Instagram, tap on your messages. If you don’t have any pending requests, you will not see anything, but if you do, you will see “Requests” with the number of requests on the top right of the screen. When you tap this, you can see everyone trying to message you.

It’s worth noting that if you send someone a message through Secret Conversations, the message bubble, which is usually blue, will be black, indicating that it’s a secret chat. ‘Encrypted from one device to the other’ will appear next to their image, letting both parties know they’re having a private conversation.
You may have been blocked if you send someone a message and the message is not delivered, as indicated by an unfilled checkmark icon.
Tap your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile. Tap in the top right, then tap Settings. Tap Update messaging, then tap Update.
