HPSP Army Scholarships  | UPDATED

The Health Professions Scholarship Program, HPSP, was created to train future healthcare providers. In exchange for some or all of the tuition fees, the recipients of these scholarships commit themselves to become designated officers in one of the following areas: the US Navy, US Air Force, or US Army.

About HPSP Army Scholarships

Founded more than 40 years ago, these scholarships have helped thousands of promising service providers to receive an education of their choice. The scholarships vary slightly depending on the branch chosen.

The Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP) offers two-, three- and four-year military scholarships for future and current medical school students. The HPSP covers civilian medical school tuition, pays for fees, provides a monthly living stipend, and includes a signing bonus under certain conditions.

Prospective students compete for scholarships covering some or all medical school years. The Air Force offers one- to four-year scholarships, the Army offers one- to four-year scholarships, and the Navy offers three to four-year scholarships.

While on scholarship, the student’s sponsoring service pays the financial expenses of tuition, specific academic fees, a monthly stipend, mandatory books and equipment, and a laptop rental.

Students enrolled in this program will receive a total enrollment in the study and a monthly grant of $2,000 to cover the program’s cost. To qualify, students must pursue advanced studies in one of these areas: veterinary medicine, psychology, optometry, medicine, psychiatric nursing, or dentistry.

Students must participate in a recognized program in Puerto Rico or the United States. In addition to full tuition for the research training group, the military offers a sign-up bonus that will earn you an additional $20,000.

This sign-up bonus is only available for dental and medical students. The program also includes the necessary materials, tuition fees, and required textbooks. Students receive a salary increase when they are promoted.

During the school break, students participate in active tasks. Only students enrolled for full-time jobs and US citizens can apply.

Regardless of the three programs you are applying to, they all require a postgraduate service commitment. You will receive the lieutenant or captain after completing your professional program.

Interns and residents in clinical psychology can be put into active service if admitted to a civilian or military hospital during their training program. For each year the student borrowed money for their program, the service commitment is one year.

Students receive a full salary for the duration of their pension commitment.

If you are interested in serving in the armed forces, these programs offer an ideal option for free school attendance. In addition, you have the advantage of not having living expenses and a guaranteed job when you finish your program.

The disadvantage is that your salary may be lower than if you were interviewed for non-government jobs.
