The Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago Educational scholarship funds from grants are available for Jewish college and graduate students.

For full-time students, approximately $500,000 is available each year, predominantly those legally domiciled in the metropolitan Chicago area, who are identified as having promise for significant contributions in their chosen careers.

Those with financial need who are pursuing careers in the helping professions have this scholarship primarily available for them.

Eligibility:

  • Applicants must be of Jewish citizenship.
  • They must have been born and brought up in Chicago metropolitan area, including Lake County, Indiana; or must have spent one continuous year being fully employed in the Chicago metro area prior to enrollment.
  • After completing school, applicants must intend to remain in the Chicago metropolitan area.
  • They must be entering an accredited graduate program in a helping profession. This is to be on a full-time basis for the full academic year.
  • On a full-time basis for the full academic year, applicants must be entering their junior or senior years of an accredited bachelor’s degree program in a helping profession.
  • They are to demonstrate financial need
  • Demonstration of career promise is required of students

#4. The AAF-Greater Evansville Scholarship Award

Yearly in the month of April, the AAF-Greater Evansville awards scholarships to deserving high school and/or college students. AAF-Greater Evansville has distributed over $153,000 in scholarship awards over the past 40 years.

To be eligible, students are mandated to plan to pursue a career in marketing, advertising, public relations or graphic design. There’s variation in the application deadline annually but is typically in early April.

#5. Silver Pen Writing Competition

The Silver Pen’s goal is to get young adults who have an interest in the process of aging so that a culture of mutual understanding and respect for the aged in the society canceled fostered.

All high school seniors who have a minimum 3.0 GPA and live with 25-miles of one of the participating locations or attend one of the participating schools can apply for this competition:

Kosciusko County Community Foundation Scholarship has nearly 100 scholarship funds available. It is from these funds that this foundation awarded more than $457,000 in scholarships.

#11. Indiana Minority Teacher/Special Education Services Scholarship

The 1988 Indiana General Assembly created this scholarship to have the critical shortage of black and Hispanic teachers in Indiana addressed. The Indiana General Assembly, in 1990, amended the Minority program to include the field of Special Education, and in 1991, there was an incorporation of the fields of occupational and physical therapy.

The student is mandated to agree in writing that he/she would apply for a teaching position in Indiana and, if hired, teach at least three years in Indiana.

For scholarship renewal for subsequent academic years, a minority student (who is an initial recipient) must reapply for the scholarship annually. The applicant must maintain the cumulative grade point average (GPA) required to be admitted into the institution’s school of education or a minimum of 2.0 GPA or the equivalent if there’s no minimum GPA requirement for the school.

  • Minority students (defined as black or Hispanic) seeking certification in teaching
  • Students are to be seeking a Special Education teaching certification
  • A student in search of an occupational or physical therapy certification
  • Residents of Indiana and a U.S. Citizen

This program is designed to provide Hoosier students with access to attend eligible post-secondary institutions. It is funded through appropriations made by the Indiana General Assembly.
