RELATED:  EACVI Training Grants for International Students in Europe, 2017

Are you a potential Knight-Hennessy Scholar at Stanford University? Below is a listing of the general requirements.

  • They encourage applications to the Knight-Hennessy Scholars program from citizens of all countries. That’s natural since we expect Knight-Hennessy Scholars to have a global impact.
  • They expect that over time about one-third of their Scholars will be from the United States. And about two-thirds will be from countries outside the United States. Those numbers will fluctuate from year to year, since our goal is to admit the world’s very best students, regardless of location.

All Graduate Programs at Stanford; Only for Graduate Degrees

Basically, you are eligible to apply to the Knight-Hennessy Scholars program if you are applying to enroll in a full-time graduate degree program at Stanford. For example, but not limited to, JD, MA, MBA, MD, MS, or Ph.D. Or if you plan on pursuing one of Stanford’s many joints- and dual- graduate degree options. For example, but not limited to, MD+PhD, JD+MA, MBA+MS).

The Stanford education of Knight-Hennessy Scholars is actually fully funded. The Knight-Hennessy Scholars program funds up to the first three years of your graduate education. And if your degree program exceeds three years – such as an MD or Ph.D. program, or a Stanford dual- or joint-degree program.

Furthermore, your Stanford home department will fund the remainder of your education to the extent consistent with its standard funding commitment for that program. (That is, some programs fund six years for PhDs, five years for PhDs.)

While they are excited to build a cohort that reflects the breadth of excellence at Stanford, there are no allocations or quotas by discipline or program.

Please note, however, that they will give priority to applicants who will spend at least two years at Stanford. Specifically, they do not believe one year is sufficient to build community and develop leadership.

First/Bachelor’s Degree Received in 2013 or Later; Enrolling in 2022 or Later

You can apply for the Knight-Hennessy scholarships if you are applying for your last year of studies for your first/bachelor degree or within five years after obtaining your first/bachelor degree.

Also, for the cohort that applied in 2019, this means that you must have graduated from January 2014 to September 2020 in order to enrol at Stanford in September 2022.

For US military (active or veteran) candidates, you are eligible if you have completed your bachelor’s degree (first grade or license). ) diploma in 2012 or later.

If you obtained your first degree more than five years ago (in 2013 or earlier), you are not eligible to apply for a Knight-Hennessy scholarship. This applies even if you graduated in 2014 or later.

The good news is that you can still enrol in the Stanford Graduate Program of your choice and there are many other options to fund your postgraduate studies at Stanford.

Other Eligibility Requirements

Beyond the eligibility requirements listed above, you are eligible for the Knight-Hennessy Scholars Program as long as you meet the requirements of the Stanford graduate program(s) that you wish to pursue.

In most cases, you are eligible for a graduate program, even if you have not studied this specific area at the undergraduate level; Contact each graduate program to get specific information about your requirements.

Including the standardized tests required by your graduate program (GMAT, GRE, LSAT, MCAT, etc.) and, if required, a proficiency test in English (TOEFL or, only for MBA programs, IELTS).

While we expect Knight-Hennessy Scholars to have performed well, there is no minimum requirement for your grades or scores.

A Special Note for Graduate Students Enrolling at Stanford Before 2022

Are you enrolled or do you plan to enroll as a Stanford graduate student?

If you enroll in a Stanford graduate program in 2019 or earlier, it cannot be considered a Knight-Hennessy Scholars program for your current degree program.

However, you can enrol in the Knight-Hennessy Scholars program if you postpone enrollment in 2022 or later, or apply for a new graduate program at Stanford from 2022 or later.

Deferring Enrollment? Apply the Year Before You Enroll

For example, if you have been admitted to the Stanford MBA program and the registration has been postponed until September 2023.

You can apply for the Knight-Hennessy Scholars program in 2022 to register as a member in 2023. Thus aligning your initial enrollment in the MBA program. and as Knight-Hennessy Fellow.

Register the arbitrators through your online application as soon as possible in the application process.

Recommendations must be submitted before the application deadline: October 10, 2019, at 1:00 a.m. Pacific Time. (Don’t worry: you can send your request even if your recommenders have not sent you your letters).

The application system will send each arbitrator a personalized link to send their recommendation online. For verification purposes, register your advisor using your work email account, not a personal account such as Gmail, Yahoo !, Etc. Here are some things to consider when choosing references:

We care about the content of the letter, not just the title or status of the person who wrote it.

The strongest letters we receive come from people who have had close and recent relationships with you. Recommendations can be academic or professional.

It is inappropriate to ask a family member to make a recommendation. Also, consider that a partner is different from a friend.

The recommendations of his partner Knight-Hennessy are the only letters of reference that we will review before providing comments on his graduate program.

Once your postgraduate program has sent your comments to the Knight-Hennessy Scholars program, we can also review the reference letters from your department.

It is good to ask the same person to make recommendations for their graduate program and for the Knight-Hennessy Scholars program but to make sure they send separate letters of reference.

You cannot write, write, edit, translate or send a reference letter. Short-answer responses

These answers help to see your other side. We ask that you answer three questions:

What are your immediate and long-term intentions after graduating from Stanford?

Tell us eight unlikely facts (unlikely but true things) about you.

Please tell us when: you have made someone proud, you have been challenged, you have not met expectations.Essays

These reflections allow us to understand who you are and how you aspire to grow and learn. There are two indications:

Link the dots. How did the influences in your life form you?
How will your training at Stanford and your Knight-Hennessy fellowship experience prepare you for your intentions?

Do not exceed 1000 words for the two tests combined.Video supplement (after submitting the application only)

After submitting your application online, you can access the video statement through the status page of your application. You have until December 11, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. Pacific Time, to submit your video statement.

Although we cannot meet each Knight-Hennessy Scholars candidate personally, the video gives us the opportunity to “know” each candidate. There is no attention, zero emphases! – about the “production value” of your video.

You must record the video using the online application. We cannot watch videos on other sites and cannot download external videos in the online application.

Your video cannot last more than two minutes. If you only need 30 seconds, that’s fine.

Invitation: Show your group of Knight-Hennessy classmates something.In-person assessment (by invitation)

We will select 150-175 applicants to Stanford, at our expense, for the immersion weekend on February 7 and 8, 2022. The immersion weekend is an opportunity to learn more about Canadian immersion programs.

Postgraduate studies, the Knight-Hennessy Fellows Program, Stanford University, your academic colleagues and, we hope, yourself. This is also an opportunity for Stanford to learn more about you.
