Langara College Admission

The Admission Requirements for Arts and Science (University-Transfer) Programs include the following criteria;

  • Successful completion of BC Grade 12 or equivalent

Student applicants are required to demonstrate proficiency in the English language before admission to post-secondary programs by providing one of the following:

  • TOEFL (paper-based) with a total score of 550 or higher and an essay score of 4.0 or higher, or TOEFL (Internet-based) with a total score of 80 or higher and a minimum of 18 in Listening, 20 in Reading, 18 in Speaking, and 20 in Writing,
  • Or IELTS 6.5, or CAEL 60 overall with essay 60, or LPI (Language Proficiency Index) Level 4 with essay 24, or LET (Langara English Test) Level 2, or ELA (English Language Assessment) 145 offered by Vancouver Community College (VCC),
  • or Successful completion of LEAP Level 8 or Successful completion of B.C. Grade 12 English or Communications or equivalent, or Successful completion of a post-secondary English or Communications course for which Langara College awards transfer credit, or Successful completion of VCC English 099

How to Apply to all Programs, the Application Process

Interested candidates are required to apply online and mail all of the required documents as soon as possible. Applying students can download (from the College website) and complete an application form for the program they are applying to.

The application form and all necessary documents must be submitted to the College with a CAD 155 non-refundable application fee.  The application form must be submitted to Langara College Registrar and Enrolment Services, International Admissions, 100 West 49th Avenue, Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA V5Y 2Z6.

Applicants will receive an ‘Offer of Admission’ if admissible to the College. Students must confirm their acceptance of the College’s Offer of Admission by paying the International Student Deposit of CAD 1500 non-refundable and non-transferable Commitment Fee.

Upon receiving the International Student Deposit, the College will send the accepted student a ‘Letter of Acceptance’ confirming your acceptance into the College.

Students then take their ‘Letter of Acceptance’ or ‘Provisional Letter of Acceptance’ to the Canadian Embassy or High Commission to apply for a Study Permit and an entry visa to Canada.

Langara College Scholarships

Langara College scholarships are intended to support the outstanding achievement of its students. Each Langara College Scholarship and award recipient must satisfy all criteria specified by the donor unless the donor agrees to waive those criteria.

Most General Langara College Scholarships do not require applications; if applications are required, they can be obtained on the Financial Aid website or by emailing [email protected].  Accepted students are selected from the general student body based on the strength of their transcript.

The following are the criteria for General Langara College Scholarships:

Applicants should be a full-time Regular Studies students in the semester for which the Langara College Scholarship or award will be received, currently registered in a minimum of 9 credits and a minimum of 9 credits in one of the past two semesters, enrolled in at least their third semester of study or the second semester of a one-year career or vocational program, must be in good standing at the College, have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher.

Between students with similar cumulative GPAs, preference is given to students who are enrolled in the greater amount of credits for the current semester and one of the past two semesters.

Students with a registered disability with Disability Services or StudentAid BC must be registered in a minimum of 6 credits instead of 9 credits to be eligible for scholarships.
