UCC invites applications for two Lilly Research Scholarships which have been established to promote research excellence in various academic disciplines of the school. The scholarship aims to support students and integrate students into the academic, social, and cultural aspects of University College Cork.

About University College Cork
University College Cork is a constituent university of the National University of Ireland and is located in Cork.
The university is one of Ireland’s leading research institutes, with among the highest research income in the state. In 2016, UCC secured research funding of over €96 million, a 21% increase over a five-year period and a high for the university.
The university had seven faculties: Arts and Celtic Studies, Commerce, Engineering, Food Science and Technology, Law, Medicine, and Science. Between 2005 and 2006 the university was restructured from these seven faculties into four colleges: Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Science; Business and Law; Medicine and Health; and Science, Engineering and Food Science.
University College Cork has been ranked by a number of bodies, and was named as the “Irish University of the Year” by the Sunday Times in 2003, 2005, 2011, and 2016, and was a runner-up in the 2015 edition.
Who is eligible for Lilly Research International Scholarships?
- Applicants must have attained at least Second Class Honours, Grade 1 (or equivalent) in an appropriate degree.
- Applicants must have an undergraduate or postgraduate degree from a recognized university.

- Ph.D. or MSc Research degree in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences; Biotechnology-related areas; and Chemical Engineering.
Language requirement
- Applicants must be proficient in English Language.
Lilly Research International Scholarships- Award Value
Winners of this scholarship will be awarded €16,000.
