Many students choose to study in Australia because of its high educational standard and the availability of jobs for students who might want to depend on part time jobs to support their study. But before you make up your mind to study in this beautiful country, consider the cost of studying and living there. I have researched on low tuition universities in Australia and I will be providing the full list here. For the cost of living, let’s take a look at the total amount a student will need for his/her feeding, accommodation, transportation, buying of books etc.

Cost of living in Australia

Find below a breakdown of the cost of living in Australia for students. The figures are in US Dollars:


Hostels and Guesthouses     –   $60 to $120 per week

Shared Rental                           –   $50 to $160 per week

On campus                                  – $70 to $220 per week

Home stay                                   – $200 to $300 per week

Other Expenses

Groceries and eating out           – $60 to $210 per week

Gas, electricity                           -$26 to $105 per week

Public transport                           – $10 to $40 per week

Entertainment                              -$60 to $110 per week

From the breakdown above, you can see that a student needs approximately $800 to $1000 per month for expenses like accommodation, food, books, entertainment, transportation etc. Note that this amount is just estimation and could be lower or higher depending on the student’s spending habit.
