Overview 

Middlesex County College provides convenient access to affordable, quality higher education. This comprehensive college provides a range of education and training opportunities, including associate degree programs and certificate programs, to prepare students for gainful employment in their chosen field.

Since opening in 1954, MCC has maintained a course schedule of approximately 125 college credits each semester and offers a variety of certificates and associate degree programs in the fields of arts and humanities, business administration, liberal arts, science and technology, nursing, and more.

Students are able to complete their bachelor’s degree program by taking core courses with electives and can earn an associate degree through online courses as well as at the Lakewood Campus.

In fact, there have been a handful of times in the last ten years that MCC has received higher rankings than the “top 10 percent”.

Most recently, MCC is number one in the state of New Jersey for private nonprofit colleges and ranked number 37 out of 750 schools in the United States.

Middlesex County College is a convenient location for local residents and nearby students.

Located less than one mile from the Middlesex County courthouse and New Jersey State College at Edison, MCC has 13 miles of public access, including both physical and electronic.

The town of Edison also has excellent health care and educational options, including the New Jersey College of Osteopathic Medicine, the New Jersey School of Dental Medicine, the Edison campus of Mercer County Community College, and the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Rutgers University Medical Center in New Brunswick.

As an Open Door college, Middlesex County College offers students in-state tuition rates at no charge to students who maintain a 2.0 GPA and complete the appropriate prerequisite classes.

First-year students typically register for ten courses. They have the option to enroll in one or more classes and the possibility of taking less than ten credit hours per semester.  

All students have the opportunity to select from an outstanding range of courses:  Anthropology, Business Administration, Dental Hygiene, Medical Assisting, Science Photography  Physical Therapist Assistant.

The college is proud of its ability to admit students from a wide variety of socioeconomic backgrounds. Forty percent of Middlesex County College students come from households that make $50,000 or less, 43% come from households that make $60,000 or less, and 33% come from households that make $100,000 or less.

Out of the approximately 1300 full-time students who attend Middlesex County College, 80% are first-generation college students. The acceptance rate for the college is 71%.

Financial Aid at Middlesex County College

Financial aid do not cover tuition, fees, and books. With the 2017-2018 academic year starting on October 29, 2017, the number of applicants seeking financial aid increased dramatically to almost 3000.

The college’s financial aid is sufficient to cover overdoes 95% of the students for the coming year. Many students have received grants for as much as $5000.

The college has a credit limit of $31,000. Middlesex County College offers 90%+ approval with the University of Iowa, Macalester College, American University, and Pace University for transfer credits.
