The 16th national Mike Okonkwo essay competition for secondary school students in Nigeria has been announced.
The competition, which is one of Dr. Mike Okonkwo’s Corporate Social Responsibility, aims to raise the standard in the country’s education sector while at the same time making students think analytically, letting them think analytically, highlighting their ability to think issues through development in their world.
This essay contest is also part of the activities to mark the 74th birthday of Dr. Mike Okonkwo, Chairman Bishop of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM).
The theme of this year’s competition is Justice as a tool for lasting peace in building nations.
Over the years, the contest has made students’ thinking patterns for developing problem-solving skills successful. Mike Okonkwo’s National Essay Contest includes a decade of developing and rewarding the writing skills of Nigerian youth for national development.

Mike Okonkwo Essay Competition was initiated in 2004 as part of activities to celebrate the Birthday of the Presiding Bishop of TREM, Dr. Mike Okonkwo (MFR), and, more importantly, to contribute to the development of the Educational Sector.
Dr. Mike Okonkwo is the Presiding Bishop of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM), a.k.a. Power in the Word, with over 200 branches in Nigeria and across the globe. He is an Apostle to this generation whose life has impacted millions worldwide.
A father to many and a pastor to pastors across the globe. Dr. Mike Okonkwo is a dynamic conference speaker, crusade evangelist, national spokesman for Nigeria, and an advocate of balanced Christianity.

Scholarship Benefits
As in previous years, the Mike Okonkwo National Essay Competition winner has benefits in three types;
- The Star Winner school has received three sets of desktops and a printer, while the student goes home with a trophy, a laptop, a badge, and an N100,000 gift.
- The first runner-up school receives two sets of desktops and a printer, and the student goes home with a cash prize of N75,000 and a badge.
- The second runner-up receives a desktop computer, while the student receives a badge and a cash prize of N50,000.

Eligibility for Scholarship
Mike Okonkwo National Essay Competition Requirements include:
Essay of a maximum of 2000 words, a passport photograph of the student, full name, address, telephone number, class, school, name, and telephone contact of the client.
