The National Space Club and Foundation is happy to announce the Keynote Scholarships to seniors (graduates or undergraduates) in high school through graduate students who are studying at an accredited educational institution in the United States.

The student must intend to pursue a career in the Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) fields or related fields, be academically strong, and stand out in public speaking.

Scholarship Description

The National Space Club Keynote Scholarships are Provided to a high school senior, undergraduate or graduate student with definite plans to pursue a career in the Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) fields.

The National Space Club is a non-profit corporation in the United State, which comprises representatives of industries, government, educational institutions, and private individuals in order to improve the exchange of information on astronautics and to transmit this information to the public. It grants scholarships and inte rnships to students and encourages educational space-based activities.

The Club encourages space leadership by the United States, the development of space technology, and recognizes and honors people who have contributed extensively to the fields of rocketry and astronautics. The Club fulfills these objectives with scholarships, internships, grants, luncheons, the Goddard Memorial Dinner, and newsletters.

The National Space Club was established on the 4^th October, the year 1957, as a club to stimulate the exchange of ideas and information about rocketry and Astronautics, and also to encourage the recognition of United States achievements in space.

The ideal candidate ought to have a strong academic standing and excellence in public speaking, and should not have previously spoken at the Dr. Robert H. Goddard Memorial Dinner. Each participant should submit an online application form and be available to participate in a final live audition-interview via Skype with the NSCF executive committee.

The Goddard Memorial Dinner is an annual awards banquet in honor of the late Dr. Robert H. Goddard. During the night, ten (10) awards and one scholarship are presented, these awards include:

What are the National Space Club Keynote Scholarships Requirements?

The National Space Club Keynote Scholarships are awarded annually to high school seniors who intend to pursue a career in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) fields. The scholarship program has specific requirements that applicants must meet, which include:

Eligibility: Applicants must be U.S. citizens and high school seniors who are planning to pursue a degree in a STEM field at an accredited college or university.
Academic achievement: Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Recommendations: Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation from teachers, counselors, or other professionals who can attest to their academic abilities, character, and potential.
Essay: Applicants must write an essay on a specified topic related to space technology, exploration, or a related field.
Activities and leadership: Applicants must demonstrate involvement in extracurricular activities, leadership roles, community service, and other related achievements.
Financial need: While not a requirement, financial need may be taken into consideration when selecting scholarship recipients.

Scholarship Worth

Three (3) students will be selected from the initial pool of applicants to participate in a final round and winner will be awarded a Ten thousand USD ($10,000) award amount.

Eligibility for Keynote Scholarships 2023

Please ensure that you are qualified candidates based on the following requirements:

The scholarship is open to seniors in high school through graduate students.
The applicant must have the intention of pursuing a career in the STEM fields and plan to attend an accredited U.S. college or university to follow a course of study to pursue a career in the STEM field, with a preference for those with space-related interests.
The applicant can only use the $10,000.00 scholarship towards tuition for the 2023 academic year.
The applicant must not have previously spoken at the Robert H. Goddard Memorial Dinner.
The applicant may apply for any of the scholarships offered by the National Space Club (Robert H. Goddard
Memorial Scholarship, Olin E Teague Scholarship, Keynote Scholarship) in the same year, but may only win once in the same year.

How to Apply for Keynote Scholarships 2023

The candidates ought to submit their applications online by 2^nd December, on the year of the application and include the following additional information/ supporting documents.

Supporting Documents

Unofficial transcript of high school and/or college.
At least two (2) letters of recommendation from faculty/professionals in science-related fields
Name and contact information of the candidate.
Name, address and contact details of his/her school, college or university
A personal video presentation must be uploaded on the National Space Club and Foundation website
Statement of Intent: A comprehensive brief statement of one hundred and fifty (150) words or less on your study/career plans with an emphasis on the Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).
Video audition: Having successfully submitted an application, applicants must upload a video on the topic “Why you are inspired by space”. The video should be no longer than three minutes (3mins) in length and should feature the applicant speaking directly to the camera. Video Format requirements are MPEG 4 with H.264 and AAC (YouTube and iTunes Video Standards)
Three (3) students will be chosen from the initial pool of candidates to participate in a concluding round. The students will provide a draft of the full eight (8) minute speech they will give at the Goddard Memorial Dinner as well as give a five (5) minute sampling over Skype to the National Space Club and Foundation executive committee at their annual January meeting.

Financial Aid and Award Worth

The candidate will receive a scholarship of Ten thousand USD ($10,000) amount.

The candidates should bear in mind that by applying to the National Space Club Keynote Scholarships, they declare their availability to speak at the year’s Goddard Memorial Dinner scheduled in March yearly. Travel and lodging for the recipient and one guest will be made available by the National Space Club and Foundation.

The funds will also be forwarded directly to the college or university financial department not later than 1^st June, and ought to be used exclusively for the payment of tuition fees.
