About Navy Reserve Officers Training Corps

HISTORY

Navy ROTC College Program Benefits

  • Provides uniforms and Naval Science Manuals.
  • College students selected for “advanced status” receive an assignment for up to 20 months. The advanced classification is available only from the first year of university. The amount allocated per academic month is $350 and $400, for the junior and senior year respectively.
The Scholarships Does Not Cover:
  • Any expense for withdrawing, failing, or repeating a course.
  • All tuition fees higher or additional to those normally charged and correspond to an elective course not required in a degree or for a job in the Navy Requirements of the ROTC program.
  • Reimbursable expenses, such as deposits.
  • Expenses incurred to break or damage property.
  • Expenses assessed by the school for failure to meet a school requirement.
  • Projection fees.
  • Medical or dental insurance.
  • All costs associated with aviation, including, but not limited to, aviation instructions, licenses, fuel charges, aircraft rental fees, ground handling instructions, rates, maintenance, or service. Students can choose to conduct studies that require this type of instruction or flight expenses; However, for all costs associated with this training, they will be fully responsible.
  • Room and Board
  • Some schools provide lodging and assistance with meals to ROTC Marine Fellows. Contact the schools with which you are interested in appointments to obtain information about their policy.
  • The duration of the scholarship benefits depends on the student’s curriculum. Students will receive scholarship benefits only for the time required to complete their bachelor’s degree or 4 years, whichever comes first. Students who enter the NROTC program and have already earned college credits should maximize the use of these credits acquired in their degree programs and strive to complete the program and the order as soon as possible.   • Must have a minimum college GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale).
  • Applicants must be admitted to or in process of gaining admittance to a school affiliated with the Navy ROTC Unit from which they are being nominated.
Two and Three-Year Scholarship Supplemental Forms

Navy ROTC College Program

  • Applicants selected from students already attending or accepted by colleges with Navy ROTC programs
  • Provides uniforms and Naval Science textbooks.
  • College Program students selected for “advanced standing” receive a stipend for a maximum of 20 months. Advanced standing is only available starting the junior year of college. Stipend per academic month is $350 a junior year and $400 a senior year.
    • Students will complete naval science and other university courses, a few specific university courses, and attend one summer training session
    • Normally at sea for Navy Midshipmen
    • Normally at Quantico, VA for Marine Corps midshipmen
  • On graduation, two- and four-year College Program midshipmen may be commissioned ensigns in the Naval Service or second lieutenants in the Marine Corps

NROTC Scholarship Application Instructions 2022

  • Candidates are invited to choose five universities or colleges affiliated with ROTC in their scholarship application. It will be assigned to the first school you choose if this option is selected.
  • Your choices between the second and fifth schools are used to measure interest in the NROTC program in these schools only.
  • If you receive a scholarship, it will be placed in the school of your choice. And without prior authorization, it may not be used in any other NROTC school.
  • To be accepted and register at your assigned school to be able to use the scholarship, You must apply. Enrolling in a higher school than your first choice will increase the chances of acceptance and enrollment. Therefore, increase the chances of using a scholarship if selected.
  • Each candidate must also choose an academic program in which he or she intends to specialize. All university programs are divided into three levels, according to the technical needs of the Navy.
  • Scholarships will be awarded to a Navy ROTC Unit. Along with the academic specialization and the level specified by the candidate in his application.
  • If the scholarship is offered, the student will have to attend the school where he is and have the ability to request a change of location if necessary or desirable. Applications are processed and approved by the NROTC placement office.

Applicants must contact the Marine Office Instructor at the Navy ROTC Unit they are planning on attending for details on the application process.

Application Deadline

Formerly, the 2022 scholarship application will be open from 1 April 2022 to 31 December 2022. Especially, at an NROTC Unit, all Navy and Nurse Option Officer Interviews must be conducted by an officer.

The application submission cycle begins in the spring approximately 18 months after the start of the school year for which we are seeking applications. The deadline to submit your application is the end of December of the year before the school year in which we request applications.

The sooner you can be selected if you request. If you submit the application sooner than expected and are not selected by the first selection boards. Hence, until a decision is made, your request may be reconsidered at each new election.
