To be qualified for the Ron Brown Scholarship Program, you must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- You must be Black/African American.
- Must also excel academically.
- Must show exceptional leadership potential.
- You must also be active in community service activities.
- Scholars must also show financial need.
- Be a US citizen or hold a permanent resident visa card.

- Download Application
If you meet the Ron Brown Scholarship requirements, download, print, and complete the application. The total size of the Ron Brown Scholarship Application document is 333kb. You would need to install an Adobe Acrobat (plug-in) on your PC if it is not already installed. This will enable you to view the application. Even though you can print the application through your browser, RBSP recommends downloading it first to ensure that all pages print properly.
- Send Your Application
After downloading and completing the Ron Brown Scholarship application, mail the completed application to the address on the form. Please ensure that all four application pages are included and mailed together in the same packet. Also, ensure not to send Transcripts and Letters of Recommendation should not be sent under a separate cover.
NOTE: RBSP will not consider incomplete, emailed, or faxed applications.
Due to the volume of applications that comes in, RBSP is only able to notify semi-finalists and finalists about the status of their application.
What is the Deadline for the Ron Brown Scholarship?
The Ron Brown Scholarships opens by August every year. If you complete and apply before November 1, you’ll be given early consideration.
However, you have until January 1 to complete and submit your Ron Brown Scholarship application.
The Ron Brown Scholarship committee will not consider any scholarship application submitted later than January 1 of any year.
