These university scholarships are for African students who have a minimum average of 70% and study at a university in South Africa.

The South African Botanists Association awards “SAAB scholarships” to students each year. Three of these scholarships for South African students will be awarded for Honors Studies (or fourth year) in a botanical-related scientific subject worth 10,000 rands each.

SAAB Scholarship Candidates receive:

  • Three fellowships will be awarded for Honors Studies (or fourth year) in a botanical-related scientific subject worth 10,000 rands each.
  • A scholarship of R $ 40,000 will also be awarded for master’s studies.

  • Bursaries are available for students from South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Swaziland, Angola, Malawi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania, Seychelles, Mozambique, Mauritius, Madagascar, and Comoros.

Candidates must meet the following minimum criteria to apply (please note that if you do not comply with all the requirements, your application will not be considered):

  • Diploma with a minimum average of 70%.
  • Study in a college in South Africa
  • Currently member/application for SAAB membership
  • Have a paid member supervisor of the SAAB
    Masters students: A Bachelor of Science degree and a minimum average of 70%.

For this SAAB Scholarship for Students from SADC Countries 2022, students who meet the requirements to apply must provide a clear copy of the following supporting documents with your completed application form (submission of these documents is mandatory – if any elements are missing, your application will not be considered) :
