The Son of Italy Foundation (SIF) is the philanthropic arm of the Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America(OSDIA), the oldest and largest national organization of men and women of Italian origin in the United States.

SIF is a philanthropic institution whose private donations are designated by 501 (c) (3). Contributions to the SIF are tax-deductible as directed by the IRS.

Governed by a board of directors, SIF has launched and supports several programs in education, medical research, preservation of culture, and projects of national and international importance. The SIF is

Sons of Italy Scholarships 2023

Each year, Son of Italy Foundation honors the Italo-Americans by establishing and awarding scholarships with their names at a gala event held in Washington, D.C.

The 31st annual NELA Gala will be held on May 23, 2023. Scholarship recipients 2023 will be invited to attend the 31st annual NELA Gala, where they will be recognized by the SIF and the prestigious guests of the Gala.

Now a tradition in the nation’s capital, the annual NELA has been attended by United States Presidents, Congressional representatives, foreign dignitaries, corporate and non-profit executives, celebrities, and leaders from the Italian-American community who support the SIF’s efforts to promote educational excellence and preserve Italian culture.

Sons of Italy Scholarships are available for Undergraduate and Graduate studies in any available course offered in the institution.

How to Apply for Sons of Italy Scholarships 2023

  1. Official Transcripts: Submit one official transcript from each academic institution (undergraduate, graduate, and law school) attended through Dec.
  2. Test Scores: Submit copies of official results from all standardized tests (ACT, SAT, GMAT, GRE, LSAT, MCAT, etc) taken during the past 5 years. Score reports are also accepted.
  3. Resume: Submit a current resume outlining extracurricular activities, work experience, volunteer service, and honors.
  4. Letters of Recommendation: Submit 2 letters of recommendation from teachers, professors, or educational administrators.
  5. Essay: Submit an original essay of 500-750 words about a personal experience that demonstrated or generated pride in your Italian heritage.
