The University of Notre Dame du Lac (Notre Dame) is a private, non-profit Catholic research university established on November 26, 1842. It is located in Notre Dame, Indiana, near the city of South Bend, in the United States.

She is a census-designated place in St. Joseph County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. Notre Dame is split between Clay and Portage Townships. Its population as of 2010 census was 5,973.

The main campus covers 1,250 acres in a suburban setting and contains landmarks, such as the Golden Dome, the “Word of Life” mural (commonly known as Touchdown Jesus), the Notre Dame Stadium, and the Basilica.

The University of Notre Dame campus is located in Notre Dame, Indiana, a small community in the Michiana area of Northern Indiana, north of South Bend, and four miles from the Michigan state line.

University of Notre Dame Courses and Colleges 

Undergraduate students have six colleges to choose from – Arts and Letters, Science, Engineering, Business, Architecture, and Global Affairs.

The University of Notre Dame offers over 50 foreign study abroad yearlong programs and over 15 summer programs. Its graduate program has more than 50 master’s, doctoral and professional degree programs offered by the six schools.

College of Science

The College of Science first began at the university in 1865. The college includes over 1,200 undergraduates in several departments of study including Biology, Neuroscience & Behavior, Chemistry and Biochemistry.

Mathematics, Physics, pre-professional studies, applied and computational mathematics and statistics (ACMS). Science-Business, Science-Computing, Science-Education, and Statistics, each awarding Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degrees.

The School of Architecture

It was established in 1899, the college offers a five-year undergraduate program leading to the Bachelor of Architecture degree.

All undergraduate students study the third year of the program in Rome. The School of Architecture awards the globally renowned annual Driehaus Architecture Prize. This is because it teaches New Classical Architecture (pre-modernist, traditional and urban planning).

The College of Engineering

The Mendoza College of Business started in 1921, and now offers degrees in accountancy, finance, management, and marketing, with over 1,600 students.

The Keough School of Global Affairs

It first began in 2014, now the school offers six doctoral programs related to international peace studies. And, a Masters in Global Affairs focused either on peace studies or sustainable development, and five undergraduate majors.

All of Notre Dame’s undergraduate students are in the First Year of Studies program. This program was established to guide freshmen before they declare a major.

The program aims to encourage intellectual and academic innovation among first-year students. So, each student is given an academic advisor from the program who helps them to choose classes that give them exposure to any major in which they are interested.

The program also includes a Learning Resource Center (which provides time management, collaborative learning, and subject tutoring). Also, FY advising, the Dean’s A list, the Renaissance circle, NDignite, the First-year Urban challenge, and more.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish is a collective name for the athletic teams that represent the University of Notre Dame.

The Fighting Irish participate in 23 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I intercollegiate sports and in the NCAA’s Division I in all sports, with many teams competing in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).

The school colors are Gold and Blue and the mascot is the Leprechaun. The team has Conference affiliations with ACC, Big Ten (Men’s Ice Hockey), Independent (Football), NCAA, Division I.

The current Notre Dame Fighting Irish Athletic director is Jack Swarbrick. Notre Dame was a member of the “old” Big East Conference until 2013, when it became a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference in all sports except for Football (with of Division I FBS Independents. Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football

Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team is the intercollegiate football team representing the Notre Dame University. The team is currently coached by Brian Kelly, Other staff includes Chip Long (OC), Clark Lea (DC), and Brian Polian (ST).

The team plays its home games at the campus’s Notre Dame Stadium. Notre Dame is one of six schools that competes as an Independent at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Football Bowl Subdivision level.

They also play five games a year against opponents from the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), which Notre Dame is a member of in all other sports except ice hockey.

The football team is in its 9th season, 69–34 (.670) having an All-time record of 906–324–42 (.729) and a Bowl record of 18–18 (.500). Notre Dame claims 11 national championships, but the NCAA recognizes the school with 13.

The school has 21 recognized national championships and has produced 101 consensus All-Americans, 34 unanimous All-Americans, 52 members of the College Football Hall of Fame, and 13 members of the NFL Hall of Fame, all NCAA records.

The Notre Dame’s helmets are solid gold with gray facemasks, the gold being emblematic of the University’s famed “Golden Dome”.

Notre Dame occasionally wears green instead of blue as its home jersey, sometimes adopting the jersey for an entire season. The team’s green jerseys are reserved for “special” occasions. Notre Dame has also been known to switch jerseys at halftime.
