Call for Applications: Ugwumba Enterprise Challenge

The Ugwumba Enterprise Challenge is an initiative of the Ugwumba Movement geared toward providing funding opportunities for African Youths in Business. The Program Highlights include the idea Pitching, Online Bootcamp for over 1000 Youth, Presentation of Awards to the Best Ideas.

This is a Call for Applications for the Ugwumba Enterprise Challenge: Abuja Edition, scheduled to hold on the 30th of August, 2021 at the Abuja International Conference Center.

Based on the Successful conduct of the Ugwumba Enterprise Owerri Challenge in May 2021, The Program has gotten Sponsorship from National Directorate for Employment (NDE), Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON), Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), NAFDAC, Industrial Training Fund (ITF).

The Ugwumba Enterprise Challenge is an idea pitching and grant competition for young entrepreneurs and innovators, who have ideas that we can transform into mega business ventures with grants, training, and mentoring opportunities.

About the Sponsor?

The Ugwumba Enterprise Challenge is sponsored by the Ugwumba Movement headed by the then Imo State Chief of Staff Hon. Uche Nwosu. Uche Nwosu (born August 8, 1975), is a Nigerian politician former Deputy Chief of Staff to the Imo State Government from 2011 to 2013, Commissioner for Lands from 2013 to 2015 and recently as the Chief of Staff from 2015.

Currently, Uche is a philanthropist and a lover of Youths. He believes that if the Youths are empowered massively. The Countries future is assured. The Challenge is a way of getting his passion to work.

Competition Eligibility

This edition is open to all young Nigerians between 18 and 30 years, who have ideas that can be transformed into successful business ventures or social enterprises.

This edition shall be open for all young Nigerians, who have ideas that can be launched into successful businesses or social enterprises.

Must be an Entrepreneur with a cutting edge Idea. The Challenge shall be for male and Female Innovators who can make it to Abuja for the Grand Finale

Through the Enterprise Challenge, about 1,000 Nigerian youths who have various business ideas shall be admitted into the Online Boot Camp which commences on the 19th of August, 2021.

How Much Can I Win at the Ugwumba Enterprise Challenge?

The Competition has attracted an Increase from the previous Edition in Owerri. The Winner with the best Idea gets the grand prize Stated below. Other Gifts and prizes are stated below.

  • 1st Prize: N1 million
  • 2nd Prize: N700,000 (seven hundred thousand naira)
  • 3rd Prize: N500,000 (five hundred thousand naira)
  • 4th – 10th N50,000 consolation prizes for each

Make sure you have a very sharp innovation and the Innovation is very scalable. Remember all winners must pass through the pitching Competition. Prepare to pitch your Ideas. Learning and practicing communication Skills as a good idea needs a powerful pitch to scale through.

Challenge Deadline

The Application for the Abuja Edition is open from 01 August 2021. The deadline for submission of applications for this challenge is on the 16th of August, 2021.

Through the Enterprise Challenge, about 1,000 Nigerian youths who have various business ideas shall be admitted into the Online Boot Camp which commences on the 19th of August, 2021.

At the end of the 7 days Boot Camp, 10 finalists with the best ideas shall emerge and will be allowed to “pitch” their ideas before the general public and a panel of judges at the grand finale on August 30, 2021.
