About University of Warsaw
The Medical University of Warsaw in Poland (Polish name: Warszawski Uniwersytet Medyczny) was founded in January 1950, building on the University of Warsaw’s former Faculty of Medicine, which had been established in the early nineteenth century.
The Medical University of Warsaw is one of the oldest medical schools in Poland. For over 200 years, the University has provided education and training in medicine and pharmacy at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The Medical University of Warsaw provides specialist tertiary referral and general services, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in its five affiliated teaching hospitals, which are also involved in scientific and clinical research, alongside a number of clinical academic departments located in other hospitals in Warsaw.
The University has joined the Global Health Learning Opportunities program (GHLO) and signed an appropriate agreement with the Association of American Medical College (AAMC) allowing our university to take part in this international student exchange program for elective rotations as a Home Institution.
The Medical University of Warsaw has international accreditations from the United States of America Department of Education and of the Medical Board of California. The standard of quality of university education is in line with the Bologna Process.
University of Warsaw English Division
The English Division of the Second Faculty of Medicine was established in 1993 at the Medical University of Warsaw just for students interested in studying medicine in English. The Division offers the medical program for high school graduates and for university graduates.
At the end of the program, the graduates are awarded the MD degree and receive a medical diploma accepted in the European Union, USA, Canada and most other countries of the world.
Having completed the basic science part of the study program, the students are eligible to apply for the USMLE (the United States Medical Licensing Examination) Step I and for the USMLE Step II upon completion of the clinical part of the program.
International students who decide to start their medical education at the Medical University of Warsaw can get financial support by applying for student loans in their home countries.
The teaching staff oversees the student’s learning process during the entire course. Practical/clinical skills are frequently evaluated during the courses and at the end of the course as assignments.
Basic science and pre-medical training of the English Division students are made available in the form of lectures, seminars, and practical classes by over 70 departments and clinics of the Medical University of Warsaw and officially attached to the University.

The tuition fee for the academic year 2018/2019 sums up to:
1st year–11.100,00 EUR.
2nd year–11.100,00 EUR.

6th year–11.100,00 EUR.
N/B: International students who are admitted to studies make payments for the 1st year of studies, must pay an admission fee amounting to EUR 200.00.
Another notable fact is the fee for students, Polish citizens, who got accepted for full-time medical studies in Polish and transferred into English Division, is the difference between the tuition fee specified in section 2 and 3 and the fee for teaching grant for one student counted by the university after the Ministry of Health and sums grants it to 12 673 PLN.
The tuition fee for students who were transferred from other universities, regardless of which year they have been admitted amounts to:

The application fee summing up to 200,00 EUR (non-refundable) is to be paid when applying to school.
- The cost of books, supplies, and miscellaneous expenses amounts to about 2.000,00 EUR.
- Housing expenses and cost of living: 6.000,00–7.000,00 EUR.
University of Warsaw Admission Requirements
The admission procedure for foreign students depends on high school diploma:
- A student with IB diploma–International Baccalaureate (IB issued by the International Baccalaureate Organization in Geneva, Switzerland) or EB diploma–European Baccalaureate (EB – issued to the graduates of the European Universities for the employees of the European Union Institution only) are admitted to the Medical University of Warsaw-based on their high school diplomas and don’t have to sit for the entrance exam. Registration is from March to the middle of July.
- A student with a High School Diploma other than IB, EB, or “nowa matura” diploma ( “new” Polish High School Certificate) must write the entrance exam. Registration is open from March to the end of April.
Language Requirements
English is the language of instruction at the English Division of the Medical University of Warsaw; hence applicants must be proficient in speaking, listening, reading and writing English.
International students who are not traditional English speakers must document their language proficiency by submitting the results of a TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), IELTS (International English Language Testing System), or a Pearson PTE Academic result.
