About USAID Undergraduate Scholarship

Since 2004, USAID Undergraduate Scholarship Program has funded scholarships for deserving but financially disadvantaged students in Phase I of the USAID-funded Merit and Needs Scholarship Program to help the Pakistani government increase its membership in the United States.

Pakistani universities and compliance with international standards. The first phase of the program, which cost $ 10.63 million, was implemented in 11 of Pakistan’s top public and private universities, and 1,807 scholarships were awarded exclusively in agriculture and trade.

In 2013, USAID launched the second phase of the program, with an estimated total cost of $ 23.1 million. In phase II, 3000 scholarships are added, while 50% of the scholarships are reserved for female students. adding to the eleven existing partner universities, 19 other public institutions are included, bringing the total number of partner universities in Pakistan to 30.

To focus on girls’ education, four women’s universities, namely Lahore University for Women, Fatima Jinnah University for Women Rawalpindi, Sarda Bahadur Khan Quetta Women, and Shaheed University Benzair Bhutto for Peshawar, also included women in the program. A total of ten universities in Punjab, five in Khyber Pakthukhwa, three in Balochistan, four in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), six in Sindh, one in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir MNBSP Phase II to make it a national program.

The new element of Phase II is training and capacity-building workshops that will be used to strengthen and strengthen the capacity of the heads of the participating institutions and the HEC in the operational and financial management of the MNBSP. Students selected under the program also receive training in career opportunities to prepare them for future career challenges and to inform them of market trends. The program is also working to strengthen its alumni network.

How To Apply For The USAID Undergraduate Scholarship 2022

Deserving students can apply for the scholarship at eportal.hec.gov.pk
Application forms are also available at the tax office of the respective university.
The completed forms and required documents will be sent to the same tax office. HEC does not accept application documents directly.

The Selection process for USAID Undergraduate Scholarship

  • Applications from all potential applicants are reviewed by the Institutional Scholarship Award Committee (ISAC). The committee is chaired by the Vice-Chancellor of the participating institution as well as members of the institution and external members. This is done to ensure impartiality and transparency.
  • The ISAC recommends potential candidates to the HEC Scholarship Management Committee (SMC). The committee includes top HEC Executives, representatives of participating institutions and outstanding scholars. The SMC will conduct a thorough review before approving the eligible cases.

Once the list of winners has been determined, the participating institutions send the funds to the selected students.
