Who Is Dr. Dre?

Dr. Dre has been a music fan right from his teens. After a while, his major success came. This happened when he joined the rap group N.W.A and when he went on to co-found Death Row Records in 1991. His first huge hit came from his song, a solo album he called “The Chronic”. It became a huge hit and since then, it has been successful all the way.

In 1996, Dr. Dre started Aftermath Entertainment and signed Eminem and 50 Cent to join the label soon after. In addition, Dr. Dre is mostly known for the company he co-founded “Beats Electronics”. For years, he has been making millions from the company, having made massive sales to Apple. Of course, Dr. Dre produces quality music and is loved by many.

Dre’s Early Years

Dr. Dre, whose real name is Andre Romelle Young was born into a musical background. His parents were both singers. They were lovers of music, so much that Dre’s middle name came from one of his father’s bands when he was younger. When Dre was a teenager, his parents separated. As such, he lived with his mother.

Dr. Dre and his mother moved around quite often. He also attended Centennial High School, where he found he had a talent for drafting. He embraced the talent full time, and over a few months, he stopped giving attention to his other coursework. Dr. Dre was then reassigned to Fremont High School and from there, Chester Adult School.

Even with his constant change of schools, he was sure that his interest was not in school, attending classes, reading, or passing exams. All he wanted to do was to make music. He got a pleasant surprise in 1984 when he got a music mixer as a Christmas gift. He was elated because, well, his dreams were slowly coming to actualization.

The music mixer was a start for turning his family house into a mini studio. He would spend hours in there, making music, editing, taking pieces of different sounds in songs, and making a unique piece of his own.

In 1992, Dr. Dre broke out on his own and began his own record label. He hit the top of the hip-hop charts with his biggest single “Nuthin But a ‘G’ Thang,” where he featured Snoop Dogg, then a little-known rapper. With this feat, nothing could stop him.
