Michael Jordan’s Net Worth

Michael Jordan is a former basketball player, team owner, product endorser, and entrepreneur from the United States with an estimated net worth of $2.2 billion.

Early Life

Michael Jeffrey Jordan was born in Brooklyn, New York, on February 17, 1963. As the fourth of five children, he attended Emsley A. Laney High School in Wilmington where he took part in basketball, baseball, and football.

As a sophomore, Michael Jordan tried to be a part of the varsity’s basketball team but was denied of it because his height at the time was unacceptable. Bittered, he didn’t relent in making his dreams of becoming a part of the team come true.

Over the summer, he grew four inches taller which earned him an enviable position on the varsity team. Literally, he became the scoring machine for his team, averaging 25 points per game in both his junior and senior years.

In 1981, he took part in the McDonald’s All-American Game as a senior where he scored some good 30 points.

Career

His not-so-regular 6ft plus structure earned him lots of recruitments from collegiate teams, who wanted him to be a part of their team. However, he attended UNC.

He scored a game-winning shot over Georgetown center Patrick Ewing with 15 seconds left in the contest. This shot would end up being the game-winner. This game, and specifically that shot, would ultimately prove to be a watershed moment in Michael’s personal confidence and future basketball career.

Michael played three seasons for the University of North Carolina Tar Heels, garnering many honors including the Naismith and Wooden College Player of the Year awards in 1984. He dropped out of UNC a year early in order to enter the 1984 draft. Interestingly, he returned to UNC to finish his degree in 1986, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in geography.

He took a break from baseball to play in the lower leagues. He spent two seasons with the Washington Wizards after returning to the NBA for the second time.

Personal Life

They filed for divorce again, and on December 29, 2006, they were awarded a final decree of dissolution of marriage, stating that the decision was made “mutually and amicably.”

The divorce was one of the most costly divorces ever recorded as cash, stocks, and the value of their different real estate assets were all included in the settlement.

Since April 2013, Michael has been married to Cuban-American model Yvette Prieto. In February 2014, she gave birth to their identical twin girls.

Luxury Life

Michael currently lives in an opulent estate in Jupiter, Florida. The 11-bedroom, 26,000-square-foot property is on three acres within Jack Nicklaus’ ultra-exclusive Bear’s Club enclave. He paid $4.8 million for the land in 2011, then spent two years and $7.6 million building his ideal home.

Also, Michael has a $3 million lake house and a luxury condo in Charlotte, North Carolina, so he can be close to his Hornets. He also owns a home in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Michael still has a huge mansion in Highland Park in Chicago. In 1991, Michael bought a piece of land in Highland Park and began construction on his dream home. The finished result was a 7-acre estate with a main house.
