Top 10 Netflix Movies to Watch In February 2022

Here are the 10 best Netflix movies for February 2022 streaming now on Netflix:

#1 Irishman

Released Date: 2019

Duration:3h 29m

Director: Martin Scorsese

Starring: Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Joe Pesci, Jesse Plemons, and Anna Paquin

In this movie, Peggy Sheeran (Lucy Gallina) observes her father, Frank (Robert De Niro), packing his suitcase for a business trip through an open door. His trousers and shirts are tucked and folded neatly into his luggage.

The ruthless tool of Frank’s trade, the snub nose revolver, is loaded. Frank has no idea his daughter was watching him; she is naturally quiet and remains so for most of their interactions.

The Irishman movie entails the years Frank worked for the Bufalino crime family led by Russell, from the 1950s to the early 2000s. It is a work of historical non-fiction that follows Sheeran’s life as well as the lives of the Bufalinos and their associates, especially those who died early.

It’s also a portrait of childhood in the shadow of callous brutality, and what it takes for a young girl to find safety in a world defined by bloodshed. IThistis ’s one of the Netflix movies for February 2022 you won’t want to miss out on.

#2 Uncut Gems

Released Date: 2019

Duration: 2h 15m

Directors: Josh Safdie, Benny Safdie

Starring: Adam Sandler, Julia Fox, Eric Bogosian

Another amazing movie on this list of the top Netflix movies for February 2022 is Uncut Gems featuring Adam Sandler. Here, Howard Ratner (Adam Sandler) plays the proprietor of an exclusive shop in New York’s diamond district.

He does well for himself and his family, but he can’t help but gamble compulsively, thereby owing a significant amount to his brother-in-law Aron (Eric Bogosian). Still, Howard must weigh other risks.

He’s expecting a special delivery from Africa known as the black opal, which is worth millions. Still, Demany brings Kevin Garnett (as himself, keyed so completely into the Safdie brothers’ tone) into the shop on the same day the black opal arrives.

This is an inspiring once-in-a-lifetime bet for Howard that’ll square him with Aron and then some new crap to sort out.

It’s all undeniably stressful, but the Safdies, in their sixth film; seem to thrive in anxiety, capturing the inertia of Howard’s life, and the innumerable lives colliding with his in all of its full-bodied beauty.

He could be onto something, or he could be pulling everything out of his ass, either way, we’ve always known Sandler had it in him.

#3 A Cop Movie

Released Date: 2021

Director: Alonso Ruizpalacios

Duration: 1h 47m

A Cop Movie is one of the top Netflix movies for February 2022 captured in director Alonso Ruizpalacios’ docu-fiction hybrid. This movie captures the essence of director Alonso Ruizpalacios’ examination of Mexico’s police force like no other.

Teresa, a police academy trainee, prepares to jump off a 30-foot diving platform and into a swimming pool after tying her wrist to a long, flimsy piece of rope. It is the final challenge she must complete to graduate, but it poses a significant risk to her life because she cannot swim. Her likely fate of drowning is countered callously by keeping her wrist tethered to land.

Teresa is less of a documentary subject and more of a vehicle for Ruizpalacios to survey the civilian perspective of the country’s police force. Teresa (who is based on a real person) is played by actress Monica del Carmen, who has expertly molded herself into the real-life officer’s image.

She’s reenacting memories from her days as an academy student to her most recent workplace woes patrolling the streets of Mexico City.

A fellow actor, Ral Briones, plays Montoya (also a real guy) at her side. Though they initially present themselves as two officers simply doing their best within a failing system, the film’s second half reveals that these sentiments are merely distorted projections of their real-life counterparts.

This movie is a subtle yet audacious indictment of police corruption by carefully crafting this illusion and then stealthily revealing the hypocrisy behind it.

#4 The Disciple

Released Date: 2021

Duration:2h 8m

Director: Chaitanya Tamhane

Starring: Aditya Modak, Arun Dravid, Sumitra Bhave

In The Disciple, Sharad Nerulkar (Aditya Modak) is a devout hardliner raised by his music-loving father and recordings of legendary singer/guru Maai (Sumitra Bhave). Will he be recognized for his greatness as he emerges from the shadows? Or will he, like his father, fade into obscurity?

Modok’s outstanding performance has a similar depth, all hidden behind a yearning tension and unwavering gaze. He represents the unfulfilled artist who sees success all around him from fools and rubes but can’t see what’s holding him back.

It’s a heartbreaking, endearing, and prickly performance that results in a truly winning portrait.

The Disciple is a movie filled with affection for its central sad-sack artist and his vow never to sell out. It’s among the most recommended interesting top Netflix movies for February 2022.

#5 Creep

Released Date: 2014

Duration:1h 17m

Director: Patrick Brice

Starring: Mark Duplass, Patrick Brice

Creep is one of the best horror Netflix movies for February 2022. It’s a somewhat predictable but cheerfully demented indie horror film directed by Brice, who also released The Overnight this year.

It’s a character study of two men; a naive videographer and a not-so-secretly psychotic recluse. The latter hires the former to come document his life out in a cabin in the woods.

The movie is entirely dependent on its excellent performances. Mark Duplass, one of the male characters who can be charming and kooky in films like ‘Safety Not Guaranteed’, shines as the deranged lunatic who forces himself into the protagonists life and haunts him at all hours. The initial back and forth between the two actors crackle with an awkward intensity.

Anyone familiar with the genre will no doubt see where it’s going. However, it’s a well-crafted ride that succeeds on the strength of the chemistry between its two main leads in a way that resembles Domhnall Gleeson and Oscar Isaac’s scenes in Ex Machina.

#6 The Conjuring

Released Date: 2013

Duration:1h 51m

Director: James Wan

Starring: Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Ron Livingston, and Lili Taylor

Another one of the best horror Netflix movies for February 2022 on this list is the conjuring directed by James Wan. Director James Wan is, by any reasonable standard, an above-average horror film director.

The creator of big-budget series like Saw and Insidious has a knack for crafting populist horror with a hint of his own artistic identity. The Conjuring is unmistakably Wan’s representation because it is by far the scariest of his feature films.

The Conjuring has a way of subverting when and where you expect the scares to arrive. Its haunted house/possession story is nothing new, but few films in recent years have had half the style that Wan imparts on an old, creaking farmstead in Rhode Island.

The film plays with the audience’s expectations by delivering big scares without the usual Hollywood jump scare build-ups and evoking classic golden age ghost stories like Robert Wise’s The Haunting.

The movie’s intensity, effects work, and unrelenting nature elevated it several tiers above the PG-13 horror it was primarily competing against. It’s worth noting that The Conjuring received an “R” rating despite the lack of overt “violence,” gore, or sexuality. This is because it was too terrifying to deny.

#7 I Lost My Body

Released Date: 2019

Duration: 1h 21m

Director: Jérémy Clapin

Starring: Hakim Faris Hamza, Victoire Du Bois, and Patrick d’Assumçao

While we’re on board for however many sequels Pixar wants to give Toy Story, and patient for however long another one takes, I Lost My Body is one to consider watching. It’s a singular animated film that doesn’t get made anymore.

Partly because hand-drawn features from small studios are becoming increasingly rare, but mostly because it’s a defiantly adult animated film, wreathed in oblique storytelling and steeped in grief.

The beauty of director Jérémy Clapin’s images is often limned in filth and decay. Although, they can be revelatory when tied so irrevocably to the perspective of a small hand navigating its nascent life in the treacherous urban underground and the traumatic memories of its host body’s severing.

Compared to other movies on this list of the top Netflix movies for February 2022, I Lost My Body is an unassuming, quietly heartbreaking achievement that the Academy should prioritize now more than ever.

#8 Christine

Released Date: 2016

Duration:1h 59m

Director: Antonio Campos

Starring: Rebecca Hall, Michael C. Hall, Tracy Letts, Maria Dizzia, J. Smith-Cameron, John Cullum, Timothy Simons

Why did Christine Chubbuck, a TV journalist, commit suicide on camera in 1974? The brilliance of this drama lies in its attempt to answer that question while remaining respectful of the enormity and unknown ability of such a violent, tragic act.

Rebecca Hall is outstanding as Christine, a deeply unhappy woman whose ambition has never matched her talent. She is empathetic in the role she played. As we get closer to Christine’s demise, we realize she’s not a morbid whodunit but rather a compassionate look at gender inequality and loneliness.

Due to how entertaining and educational this movie is to most people, it’s right to be considered on our list of top Netflix movies for February 2022.

#9 Blame!

Released Date: 2017

Duration:1h 46m

Director: Hiroyuki Seshita

Starring: Sora Amamiya, Kana Hanazawa, Takahiro Sakurai

Because of its captivating story chapters and how entertaining it is, the movie “Blame!” made its way to our list of top Netflix movies for February 2022.

Set on a far-future Earth that was consumed by a massive, self-replicating superstructure called ‘The City,’ the movie follows Killy, a quiet loner who wanders the planet’s layers in search of a human.

This human has an elusive ‘net terminal gene which is the only way to stop the city’s perpetual hostile expansion.

With a screenplay written by Sadayuki Murai and directed by Seshita, Blame! cuts much of the manga’s early chapters. Also, it streamlines the story into a much more narrative and action-driven affair. Blame! is a faithful adaptation that is a good introduction to the series as the manga itself.

The movie makes a compelling case for being not only one of the most conceptually entertaining anime films of recent years but also one of the best original anime films to grace Netflix in a long time.

#10 Dick Johnson Is Dead

Released date: 2020

Duration:1h 30m

Director: Kirsten Johnson

Starring: Kirsten Johnson, Dick Johnson

This is another lovely movie on our list of top Netflix movies for February 2022 that you will surely enjoy watching. Dick Johnson is a sweet soul, a perpetually warm and beaming man surrounded by friends, colleagues, and acquaintances who sincerely love him uniformly.

Though, his daughter makes it clear from the start that her father’s wonderful nature will only make saying goodbye to him that much more difficult. And the time will come when she must do so.

Her motivation, she reluctantly admits, is partly selfish, as she decides to help acquaint her father with the end of his life.

She does this by reenacting in lavish cinematic vignettes the many ways he could go out, from falling air conditioner unit to nail-festooned 24 to the face, to your standard-issue tumble down the stairs, complete with a broken neck.

She realizes she may be exploiting someone she loves by recreating false events. Her father, Dick Johnson, is beginning to show alarming signs of dementia and can no longer fully grasp the high concept to which he once agreed to assuage her anxiety as she loses herself in the project. As his memory fades, so does his ability to care for himself.

Dick Johnson Is Dead caters less to Dick’s need to retain some sense of immortality and more to his daughter’s and all of our need to let go. It’s one of the interesting movies we added to our watch list of the top Netflix movies for February 2022.
