Although the women in this room compete to represent various regions of the nation, they have a lot in common.

They are all openly aware of how they are expected to sound and appear, and they are not only Democratic women. They’re also gorgeously anti-establishment, supported by grassroots organizations like Brand New Congress that pick candidates they want to defeat those in Washington, D.C. who aren’t doing their jobs.

“Knock Down the House” succeeds with simple but effective goals: to highlight the women who are both furious and doing something about it.

I Am Woman

Director: Moon

Release Date.5 September 2019

Duration:

Starting: Evan Peters, Tilda Cobham Hervey; Danielle Macdonald.

This TV-style biopic talks about the Australian-born artist Helen Reddy, who had a succession of popular singles in the 1970s. She recently passed away and deserved more elegiac adoration than she received. Here is a link to Caroline Sullivan’s wonderful obituary.

The show’s sentiments are impressive enough, but the cardboard discussion and cliched plot make it tiresome to watch. What’s more, Cobham’s performance of Harvey’s is so ethereal and flat that it seems like a piece of lost pop art.

Reddy sings earnestly through the entirety of the song Angie Baby, which is a rather troubling song, as it is performed during the movie’s Vegas residency. This scene is so inert and uninterpreted that it sends the movie into a state of insanity.

Every scene lacks the shock of music or excitement, it’s a depressingly superfluous way to treat a vocalist who deserves better.
