What is the Global Leadership Fellows Program?

The World Economic Forum Global Leadership Fellowship program is a multiannual program that combines intensive on-the-job experience, an innovative learning curriculum, personalized access and guidance, and an extensive network of former students.

A huge scale, complexity, and urgency in the world’s challenges face faster leadership. Isso means that the leaders have visions and values, character and competition, future or future, and balance the polarities between the short and long-term goals.

What is the World Economic Forum about?

The World Economic Forum, based in Cologny-Geneva, Switzerland, is an NGO, founded in 1971, with a membership of 1,000 multinational corporations, on whose behalf it lobbies, primarily for deregulation.

However, the Forum engages the foremost political, business, and other leaders of society to shape global, regional, and industry agendas. Note, its 1,000 member companies, typically global enterprises with over five billion dollars in turnover (varying by industry and region) fund it.

The WEF hosts an annual meeting at the end of January in Davos, a mountain resort in Graubünden, in the eastern Alps region of Switzerland.

Lastly, the meeting brings together some 2,500 business leaders, international political leaders, economists, celebrities, and journalists for up to four days to discuss business deals. The annual Davos meeting has been described as a useful exchange of creative ideas and an “orgy of plutocratic comity”.

Who is a Global Leadership Fellow?

As a Global Leadership Fellow at the World Economic Forum, your job will combine on-the-job training in roles ranging from knowledge creation to project management, insight generation, and community curation.

However, you will benefit from rigorous training in Systems Leadership in a customized learning program established in partnership with leading global universities. You will also work on your individual development with an experienced executive coach.

Furthermore, throughout the three-year program, you can expect to rotate at least once to another role in the Forum allowing you to experience different parts of the organization.

The national average salary for a Global Leadership Fellow is $57,217 in the United States.

As a Fellow, you will learn to manage complexity and ambiguity, work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, become an agile and resilient leader, earn a Master’s in Systems Leadership, and interact with some of the world’s most influential individuals and institutions.

Eligibility for WEF Global Leadership Fellowship

To apply for this world economic forum program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicants must have up to 4-8 years of work experience. Between four and eight years of full-time work experience
  • Must have a Master’s degree in any discipline from any institution that has been accredited.
  • A high level of intellectual curiosity and humility
  • Good communication and writing skills
  • Also, the applicant must possess strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to think conceptually and globally about a broad range of issues
  • Moreso, he or she must have experience in writing briefs, capturing information, and generating insights
  • Ability to engage and interact with high-level stakeholders and present information with confidence
  • Adaptable and resilient; able to thrive in an ambiguous and dynamic environment
  • Ability to empathize with others and see the world through their lens
  • A high degree of energy, enthusiasm, and positivity

Fellows are trained at CEIBS, Columbia University, INSEAD, the London Business School, THNK School of Creative Leadership and Innovation, and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Steps in the World Economic Forum Global Leadership Fellows Application Process

An overview of the application is provided below. After each stage, candidates are notified of their status, with all successful candidates invited to the next stage.

  • Complete an online video interview
  • Complete a Human Resource screening call
  • Complete a series of short essays
  • Engage in a 90min interview
  • Take part in a full-day series of assessments at the Forum Centre
  • Take part in a full-day series of interviews with the hiring manager, peer group, and cluster head
  • An offer is extended subject to the clearing of reference checks
