Washington Adventist University\u00a0is a\u00a0Seventh-day Adventist\u00a0liberal art University Washington Adventist University was established in 1904 and operates in\u00a0Takoma Park, Maryland. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The school is accredited by the\u00a0Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools<\/a>; the\u00a0Adventist Accrediting Association\u00a0of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists; and approved by the Maryland Higher Education Commission<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The university offers undergraduate<\/a><\/strong> Associate and bachelor’s degrees, as well as several certificate programs. Graduate programs include BA, Masters<\/a><\/strong> of Nursing<\/a><\/strong> with Business Leadership<\/a><\/strong>, Masters in Public Administration, Masters of Religion, and Masters in Psychology<\/a><\/strong>. Adult evening courses towards accelerated bachelor’s degree programs are also available from the School of Graduate and Professional Services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The campus, containing 17 buildings including residence halls, occupies 19 acres (77,000 m2) in suburban Takoma Park, MD just north of the Washington D.C. line. The student body is diverse with students attending from a reported 40 states and 47 countries. The student population is 1,493, where 1,327 are undergraduates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington Adventist University co-sponsors Adventist Colleges Abroad, a program in which qualified students study overseas while completing requirements for graduation at Washington Adventist University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This language and cultural immersion are available in eight locations: Argentina, Austria, Brazil<\/a><\/strong>, France, Germany<\/a><\/strong>, Greece, Italy, and Spain<\/a><\/strong>. WAU undergraduate students may also study business courses in England through an exclusive partnership program with Newbold College just outside London, England.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

Leadership Scholarships

The Gateway Leadership Scholarships<\/strong><\/a> are available to first-time WAU students in the schools of Arts and Social Sciences<\/a><\/strong> and Health<\/a><\/strong> Professions, Science<\/a><\/strong> and Wellness. These scholarships are not renewable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students are eligible based on elected or appointed offices held during their Junior and\/or Senior years of high school<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order for any scholarship to be awarded, a verification letter must be received from the high school, church, or community organization stating the office held and the period of time the office was held. Scholarships here include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
