Everglades University History and Location

Formerly known as American Flyers College, Everglades is a private university offering both bachelor’s and master’s degree programs.

Its main campus is located in Boca Raton, Florida with several others across the states. This university was established in 1990 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Eight years later, Arthur and Belinda Keiser purchased the college and changed its name to Everglades College. By 2000, the university was incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation in the state of Florida.

At this point, it was independently operated by a Board of Trustees and students could enroll in a Bachelor of Science Degree program. In the Fall of 2002, Everglades College became the first college to offer a Bachelor of Science with a major in Alternative Medicine. It received approval to open the Sarasota Branch Campus of Everglades University in January 2003.

By December, Everglades College changed its name to Everglade University. In 2010, it got accreditation to award bachelor’s and master’s degrees by SACS.

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges granted a ten-year accreditation to the university in 2015. Currently, it has Kristi Mollie as president.

Everglades Academics

The university curriculum accommodates undergraduate and graduate students. Unlike traditional university models that allow students to take on numerous models at a time, Everglade’s approach to education focuses on student’s learning an individual subject at a time.

So, students take each class over a period of one month to gain mastery. It offers 11 bachelor’s degree programs and 5 master’s degree programs.
