degree<\/a><\/strong> studies at world-renowned universities in countries like Japan, the USA, UK, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2014, the <strong>100 Year-Vision scholarship<\/strong> has provided talented orphaned students from sub-Saharan African countries with the opportunity to apply for and to potentially pursue higher education (for the level of an undergraduate degree) at the world&#8217;s leading universities outside Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each year, the <strong>100 Year-Vision<\/strong> projects will select one academically gifted bereaved student from each eligible African country who does not have the opportunity to study at a university in their own home country and provide him or her with a full scholarship to study abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n<figure id=\"14--please-note-\"><span id=\"about-ashinaga\"><strong>About Ashinaga<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Ashinaga is a Non-profit Organization based in Japan that supports bereaved students educationally, emotionally, and financially, ranging from infancy right up to the completion of higher education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The organization has supported young people in Japan for around 50 years but expanded to start helping students internationally in 1999 after the natural disasters in Turkey, Colombia, and Taiwan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 100-Year Vision program has the goal to nurture future leaders in Africa by providing full scholarships to orphaned students to study abroad, whom it is hoped will contribute to the development of their own countries upon their return, not long after completion of their study program abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"0--about-ashinaga-\"><span id=\"about-ashinaga-scholarship\"><strong>About Ashinaga Scholarship<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Ashinaga provides educational and emotional support for orphaned students worldwide through the&nbsp;Ashinaga Bereaved Undergraduate Scholarships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our programs enable these students to overcome emotional trauma, advance in their education, and become agents of social change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"3--courses-offered-\"><span id=\"courses-offered\"><strong>Course(s) Offered<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Ashinaga Bereaved Undergraduate Scholarships are available to obtain degrees in several fields of study in the partnering institution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"4--course-level-\"><span id=\"course-level\"><strong>Course Level<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p> This scholarship is for orphaned or bereaved students of African origin who are offering full-time undergraduate courses in world-renowned universities in countries like Japan, the USA, the UK  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"1--eligibility-\"><span id=\"eligibility\"><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The application is open to those who:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Have lost one or both parents (and can submit an official document proving this)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have completed 12 years of education (primary and secondary school) within the last two years, or those who will complete 12 years of education by December 31 of the application year. <strong>Vocational certificates not accepted.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have citizenship and completed\/completing high school in one of the countries listed below<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Are below 23 years old at the time of this application<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do not have the financial means to attend university<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Are proficient in either English, French or Portuguese<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have an outstanding academic performance at school<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Are able to participate in the two Ashinaga preparatory programs before attending university<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Are willing to contribute to society in Africa after graduating from university<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have no dependents who could interfere with academic progress<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be in good condition of health and capable of studying abroad*<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"2--selection-criteria-\"><span id=\"selection-criteria\"><strong>Selection Criteria<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Students are chosen on the basis that they want to return to their <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/kiiky.com\/category\/scholarships-by-countries\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">countries<\/a><\/strong> in order to develop the industry in their chosen<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/kiiky.com\/category\/scholarships-by-suject\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">field of study<\/a><\/strong>, hopefully with a positive social impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"7--eligible-groups-\"><span id=\"eligible-groups\"><strong>Eligible groups<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Citizens of the following Sub-Saharan African countries:<br>a). <em>English speaking:<\/em> Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Ghana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Sudan, Botswana, South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, Mauritius,<strong> Somalia,<\/strong> Nigeria, The Gambia, Cape Verde, Mozambique, Guinea Bissau, Angola<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>b). <em>French-speaking:<\/em> C\u00f4te d&#8217;Ivoire, Senegal, Benin, Burundi, Gabon, Mali, Burkina Faso, Mauritania, DR Congo, Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Cameroon, Togo, Madagascar, Comoros<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"8--participating-institutions-\"><span id=\"participating-institutions\"><strong>Participating Institutions<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Leading universities in countries outside Africa, e.g. Japan, USA, UK, etc<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"10--sponsorship-duration-\"><span id=\"sponsorship-duration\"><strong>Sponsorship duration<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The period of sponsorship is for the whole period of undergraduate studies<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"11--scholarship-benefits-\"><span id=\"scholarship-benefits\"><strong>Scholarship Benefits<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This award provides a FULL scholarship that covers the cost of tuition, accommodation (during the terms and vacation), insurance, flight, and provides a monthly stipend that covers food and necessary academic costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"12--method-of-application-\"><span id=\"method-of-application\"><strong>Method of Application<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>There is no application fee. Do not pay any money to anybody.<\/strong> Students are required to complete an application and submit copies of all academic and identity documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are three ways to apply for the 100-Year Vision Scholarship \u2013 Online (preferred option), By Email or By Post.
