Are you ready to build a legacy? The Zayed Sustainability Prize submissions for the 2022 edition are open. Inspired by the UAE’s founding father and sustainability champion, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan., this annual global Prize recognizes outstanding sustainability solutions.
The UAE’s pioneering global award for rewarding innovation, impact, and inspiration in sustainable development solutions invite organizations and schools to submit their entries in one of its five categories.
Established in 2008, this annual award recognizes and rewards the achievements of those who are driving impactful, innovative and inspiring sustainability solutions across these five distinct categories: Health, Food, Energy, Water, and Global High Schools.
Therefore, If you are an organization with an innovative solution in Health, Food, Energy or Water, or a high school with an idea for a project you are welcome to apply today.
What You Need To Know About The Zayed Global Sustainability Prize
Over 318 million people have been directly or indirectly impacted by the sustainability solutions and school projects of the 76 recipients of the Prize winners since the first awards ceremony in 2009.
Level/Field of Study
The competition is open to innovative individuals and visionaries whose achievements have furthered the global proliferation of innovative, impactful and inspirational sustainability solutions in the following areas:
- Health
- Food
- Energy
- Water
- Global High Schools.
Host Nationality:

Eligible Nationality
The competition is open to international Innovators who have something to give back to their communities.

Competition Benefit
The total prize fund is US$3 million, distributed as follows:
- Health – $600,000
- Food – $600,000
- Energy – $600,000
- Water – $600,000
- Global High Schools – $600,000 – (divided amongst 6 Schools, awarding each up to US$100,000) –

- The Middle East & North Africa
- Europe

Zayed Global Sustainability Prize Eligibility:
The evaluation criteria for the Health, Food, Energy and Water categories are:
- Impact: Significant and tangible outcomes on the quality of people’s lives.
- Innovation: Distinctive characteristics to change the “status quo” and potential to catalyze opportunities that will have a disruptive positive impact and transformative change.
- Inspiration: The potential to scale up project outcomes, in the next decade, and the ability to inspire others.
For the Global High Schools category, their projects should be designed to deliver positive educational impact, including providing access to quality education and ensuring students are given key skills and enhanced abilities to achieve their goals.
How To Apply For The Zayed Sustainability Prize
The application is done online through the Zayed Sustainability Prize portal and it’s totally free.
In order to start your entry, please register an account with the Prize by clicking the ‘Register‘ button at the top.
An email will be sent to you to verify your email address. After the verification, you can start your entry by logging into the system.
For your convenience, you will be able to save and return to your submission form for editing at any time.
However, you will not be able to edit your entry after you have submitted it.
