About Swansea University And European Commission PhD Scholarships

Applications are invited for a 3 year PhD studentship to work on advanced label-free super-resolution optical imaging for applications in materials and biological sciences.

In this project, you will develop new microscopy and imaging techniques by combining atomic force microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and machine learning for chemical and biological analysis at a spatial resolution ranging from 10 nm to a few microns. The project will build upon successful collaboration between Swansea University and the national measurement institutes in Europe.

Fully Funded Swansea University And European Commission PhD Scholarships 2022 is available to undertake PhD level programs at Swansea University.

Scholarship Benefits:

This scholarship covers the full cost of UK tuition fees and an annual stipend of £15,609.

Additional research expenses will also be available.

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates must normally hold an undergraduate degree at 2.1 level in chemistry or a related subject, or a master’s degree with a minimum overall grade at ‘Merit’ in Chemistry, Physics, Engineering or related subjects (or Non-UK equivalent as defined by Swansea University).

Strong interests in instrumentation, microscopy, optics, and computer programming is desirable.

English Language requirements: 

If applicable – IELTS 6.0 overall (with at least 5.5 in each individual component) or Swansea recognized equivalent. Details on the Swansea University English Language entry policy can be found here.
