Scholarships and Discounts

Early Application Discount

A discount of AED 3000 will be awarded to any student, (foundation, undergraduate or postgraduate, excluding MBA).

  • The Early Application discount will be awarded to any student (foundation, undergraduate or postgraduate excluding MBA) applying and paying tuition fee deposit by the required deadline.
  • Heriot-Watt University Dubai Degree Entry Programme (DEP) students who are progressing to their undergraduate degrees are not eligible to apply for this discount.
  • Heriot-Watt University Dubai Undergraduate students completing their degree by September are eligible to apply for this discount when applying for a postgraduate program.
  • To avail of this discount, students must apply and pay 10% of their tuition fees as advance payment (non- refundable) against their tuition fee. UAE based students must also provide the required post-dated cheques for their tuition fees. The advance payment and post-dated cheques (if applicable) must be paid on or before the discount deadline.
  • The Early Application discount amount will be distributed equally across the Instalment plan.
  • This discount is applicable for students who have received an Unconditional Offer Letter or a Conditional Offer Letter from the university. Students who have received a Conditional Offer Letter must provide the remaining documents to receive an Unconditional Offer Letter from the university before the start of the academic year. In case a student does not meet the conditions required, his/her admission and early application discount both will become void and any tuition fee paid will be refunded back to the student.
  • For the avoidance of doubt, the advance payment of the fees paid is non-refundable if an unconditional offer letter has been issued to the applicant.
  • The deadline for availing the discount is 20 April.

Full Advance Fee Payment Discount

  • A discount of 3% of the net annual tuition fees will be awarded to any student, (foundation, undergraduate or postgraduate excluding MBA) who pays their net annual tuition fees in full before 1st September for the September Intake or before 1st January for the January Intake. If an offer letter is sent to the student after the deadline, then to avail the full advance fee payment discount the student must pay the annual tuition fee within 7 days of receiving the offer.
  • To avail this discount, fees must be paid in cash, by current dated cheque, or through bank transfer.
  • A student who first pays 10% of their fees (and PDCs for non-international students) to confirm their place for the chosen program, and then decides to pay the tuition fee in full will also be eligible for this discount.
  • International students, who pay their fees in full, are also eligible to apply for this discount.
  • The discount will be calculated on the net tuition fee, after deducting any other applicable scholarship(s) or discount(s) received by the student.

Corporate Companies Discount

  • Groups of students working in the same organization and applying & enrolling for any of the postgraduate programs (excluding MBA) for the same academic year will be eligible to the following discount upon enrolment:
  • 3-5 students – 10%
  • 6-10 students – 20%
  • 10+ students – 25%
  • Students need to submit proof that they are all currently working for the same organization.
  • The discount applies to applicants from the same organization regardless of the country they are employed in.
  • The discount applies to applicants enrolling in postgraduate programs in the same intake only and does not apply to those enrolling for the MBA.
  • The discount will be applied only after the enrolment of the whole group in the relevant intake.

For Financial Hardship and Special Needs Scholarships, the number of academic courses students must enroll in will be considered on a case-by-case basis, although, where possible, a minimum of four academic courses is recommended. Please note that scholarships can be granted for credit-bearing courses only.
  • Students must maintain the cumulative grade point average (CGPA) necessary in order to continue receiving scholarship funding. The specific CGPA requirements vary according to the type of scholarship applied for. These details are outlined in the specific scholarship descriptions.
  • Scholarships are not valid for summer semesters.
  • Scholarships are only valid for current tuition fees.
  • Students can apply for more than one scholarship, provided they meet the eligibility requirements. In case a student qualifies for more than one reduction, scholarship or discount, the student will be given the chance to choose the scholarship with the highest value.
  • All remaining fees (tuition and housing) must be paid promptly in order to receive and maintain the scholarship.

Please note the following condition

  • Scholarship recipients or those who qualify for a reduction in the cost of tuition may not appeal the decision of the University, or the percentage or amount of reduction assigned. The decision to grant or deny a reduction in cost is final.

Academic Excellence Scholarship  

Overall Terms and Conditions

  • To be considered eligible for the Academic Excellence Scholarship, students need to be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours.
  • Scholarships awarded for the fall semester are valid for one year, provided that the CGPA is maintained as per the information below and provided the student registers for at least 12 credit hours per semester.
  • Scholarships awarded for the spring semester are valid for one semester only.
  • Scholarships do not apply for summer semesters.

Academic Excellence Scholarship Allocations

50% tuition waiver

High school students need to have attained an academic average of 99%* or above to apply for a 50% tuition waiver.

For current CUD students renewing their scholarship, the semester CGPA at the conclusion of the semester must be 3.98 or higher to continue receiving a 50% tuition waiver.

40% tuition waiver

High school students need to have attained an academic average of between 95 – 98.9%* to apply for a 40% tuition waiver.

For current CUD students renewing their scholarship, the semester CGPA at the conclusion of the semester must be between 3.95 – 3.97 to continue receiving a 40% tuition waiver.

30% tuition waiver

High school students need to have attained an academic average of between 90 – 94.9%* to apply for a 30% tuition waiver.

For current CUD students renewing their scholarship, the semester CGPA at the conclusion of the semester must be between 3.9 – 3.94 to continue receiving a 30% tuition waiver.

20% tuition waiver

High school students need to have attained an academic average of between 85 – 89.9%* to apply for a 20% tuition waiver.

For current CUD students renewing their scholarship, the semester CGPA at the conclusion of the semester must be between 3.85 – 3.89 to continue receiving a 20% tuition waiver.

10% tuition waiver (returning students only)

High school students who were granted an automatic 20% tuition waiver for their first semester at CUD and have maintained a 3.8 – 3.84 CGPA, may be eligible for a 10% tuition waiver on the subsequent semester.

Sports Scholarship  

This scholarship is meant for elite and talented athletes from any sport who have competed and achieved success at least at a city level. Sports Scholarships are awarded based on the applicant’s sports achievement level and their academic performance. A tuition waiver of up to 40% can be applied accordingly.

  • Sports Scholarships are valid for one semester only.
  • Students can reapply each semester to continue their scholarship.
  • Deadlines for the fall semester (July 7th) and spring semester (December 20th) must be met.
  • Sports Scholarships do not apply for summer semesters.
  • For high school applicants to be eligible, they must have a minimum academic achievement of 70%.

  • Students can reapply each semester to continue their scholarship.

  • Returning students are required to achieve a minimum of a 2.8 CGPA to be eligible to apply/ reapply for the Financial Hardship Scholarship.

Scholarships for Lateral Entry (Diploma) / Transfer Cases

Scholarships will be offered to meritorious students who take admission under Lateral Entry (Diploma) / Transfer category as per the criteria given below:

  1. One scholarship in each engineering stream and one in each non-engineering program, amounting to 25% of the annual program fees, to be granted on the basis of merit, provided the student has aggregate marks in excess of 60% / CGPA 6.0 or above, without any backlogs.
  2. To continue to get the scholarship, the student should maintain a CGPA of 6.0 or above, failing which, the scholarship for the subsequent years will be withdrawn.

TMA Pai Merit Scholarships

One Scholarship in each stream of engineering and one in each non-engineering program with:

  1. 100% waiver on annual tuition fees, will be given to the student with the highest aggregate marks in excess of 90%, in the qualifying exam.
  2. 50% waiver on annual tuition fees, will be given to the student with the highest aggregate marks in excess of 80%, in the qualifying exam.
  3. 25% waiver on annual tuition fees, will be given to students with the highest aggregate marks in excess of 75%, in the qualifying exam.

To continue to get the scholarships, the students should maintain a CGPA of 8.0 or above, failing which the scholarship for the subsequent years will be withdrawn.

Rajasthan Merit Scholarships

One Scholarship in each stream of engineering and one in each non-engineering program will be given to students from Rajasthan domicile, with the highest aggregate marks in excess of 80% in 10+2 or equivalent qualifying exam.

To be eligible, the student should have passed his/her 10th and 10+2 exam from a school in Rajasthan./

The student has to submit domicile (issued by the competent government authority) to be availed of this scholarship.

  1. The maximum scholarship given to each student will not exceed the annual fees of the program joined, or Rs. 1 Lakh, whichever is lower.
  2. To continue to get the scholarship, the student should maintain a CGPA of 7.5 or above, failing which the scholarship for the subsequent years will be withdrawn.

Scholarships/Seat Reservations for Local Region Students

For the benefit of students from nearby villages of Dehmi Kalan, Thikaria and Sanjharia and to promote education amongst them, the following are available:

5.1 Reservation of Seats

Two seats each, with 50% annual program fee-waiver on the basis of merit, are reserved in the following programs (other than B. Tech):

5.2 Financial Support

Rs 500/- per month will be given to two students, other than those mentioned in 5.1 above, from each of the above-mentioned programs, who have a 75% and above aggregate marks.

To continue to get the scholarship, the student should pass every year without any backlogs, failing which the scholarship for the subsequent years will be withdrawn.

  1.  Scholarships for Sibling/s

20% fee waiver will be offered on annual tuition fees for each sibling enrolled in the university in the I Year in the form of scholarships. 

These scholarship will be given to those students whose family income is less than Rs.5 lakhs per annum.

Pre-requisites

  1. Students applying for these scholarships are required to submit copies of their parents’ (both mother and father) Form 16/16         A/ITR of         last two years. These requisite documents are to be submitted every year.
  2. The siblings should be studying concurrently in the University (MUJ) and in the case of withdrawal/exit of anyone sibling from the University, the scholarship shall be withdrawn.

iii. To continue to get the scholarship, the student should maintain a CGPA of 7.5 or above, failing which the scholarship for the subsequent         years will be withdrawn.

  1.  Scholarship for “Differently- abled” Students

Scholarships are available for “differently-abled” students whose family income is less than Rs.5 lakhs per annum.

  • Foundation Studies programs approved for direct admission to Bachelor degrees and offered at an institution recognised by UOW;
  • Diploma or other academic pathway program approved for admission with credit exemption from an institution with which UOW has a formal agreement;
  • Up to one year of study in a Bachelor degree at a recognized University, where there is no credit exemption awarded to study at UOW.
  1. b) The UES is available to students enrolling in Bachelor degrees at UOW (Australian campuses only) excluding the following: Doctor of Medicine; Nursing; 4-year Nutrition & Dietetics; 4-year Exercise Science & Rehabilitation; and Education, Social Work; and Psychology (all degrees).
  2. c) Must be an international student.

Application Process

Students who meet the eligibility criteria will be automatically considered when applying for admission to UOW. There is no separate application process.

When will I know the outcome?

Successful applicants will be notified of their course offer letter.

What are the benefits?

The scholarship provides a 30% tuition fee waiver for the minimum duration of the course as outlined in your offer letter.

Note: This scholarship is for students who receive a UOW course offer after 30 June.
