About the Company
The Auditor General of South Africa (AGSA) was established over 100 years ago, in 1911. AGSA is the supreme audit institution of South Africa, whose job is to audit and report no the spending of South African taxpayers’ money by the South African government.
AGSA’s partners include the following organizations: Association of Chartered Accountants (ACCA); South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA); South African Institute of Government Auditors (SAIGA); Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) and the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institution (INTOSAI).
The AGSA is devoted to encouraging South Africa‘s transformation aspirations, which strives to promote the B-BBEE (Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment) codes of good practice.
Level/Field of Study
Auditor-General Bursary SA will be awarding bursaries to students currently studying or planning on studying Chartered Accountant qualification, such as these qualifications:
- BCom Accounting CA stream
- Bachelor of Accounting CA stream
- BCompt
Studies must be completed at a university recognized and accredited by the SAICA (South African Institute of Chartered Accountants).
Host Nationality:
This Scholarship is to be taken in SOUTH AFRICA.
Eligible Nationality:
The Bursary is open to all South African students to study in any of the country’s universities.

Scholarship Benefits:
The bursary will cover the following expenses: tuition, prescribed textbooks, accommodation, and meals at the university.
Bursary recipients will be required to partake in training with AGSA once they have graduated or serve articles.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants should meet the following minimum entry standards before applying (please note that failure to meet each of the requirements will result in your application not being considered):
Matric students:
- South African citizen
- Currently in Matric
- Obtain a minimum result of 60% for English
- Obtain a minimum result of 60% for Mathematics
- Achieve a Matric exemption
- Be accepted to study at a SAICA-accredited University
- Intend to study full-time towards a Chartered Accountancy qualification
2nd-year students:
- South African citizen
- Studying full-time in the second year of a Chartered Accountancy qualification
- Studying at a SAICA-accredited University
- Get a minimum result of 60% for Financial Accounting
- A minimum result of 60% for Managerial Accounting
3rd and final-year students:
- South African citizen
- Studying full-time in the third or final year of a Chartered Accountancy qualification
- Studying at a SAICA-accredited University
- Obtain a minimum result of 60% for Financial Accounting
- Obtain a minimum result of 60% for Managerial Accounting
- A minimum result of 60% for Taxation
- A minimum result of 60% for Auditing
- Obtain a minimum result of 60% for all other subjects
Students must also meet the following requirements to apply:
- Be proficient in English
- Have strong communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Have strong leadership potential
- Be determined and committed to succeed
