Admission Requirements

More than 12,000 students speak a language other than English and more than 6,000 are counted as English learners. Children living with a parent or legal guardian resident within the Clayton School District can enroll for free in the district’s K12 schools. (230-fifth.com)

A family’s residence is defined as their primary, permanent and permanent residence for legal purposes. To enroll a child as a resident student, families must provide at least two (2) documents to prove their address is in the district.

Parents of children entering Kindergarten through Grade 12 must complete the linked Clayton Enrollment Form for their children and return the documents to the Clayton Administration Building School District at No 2 Mark Twain Circle, Clayton, MO 63105. You must bring an original birth certificate and vaccination cards for full enrollment. A child is eligible if he or she turns five (5) years old before August 1st of the school year beginning in this calendar year.

Parents of children entering the District’s early childhood program at the Family Center will follow a separate enrollment process.

Due to the COVID19 pandemic, Clayton county schools are not conducting walk-in registration for K12 students at this time.

Proof of Residency:

Must include one of the following:

  • Property deed in your name or recent mortgage statement
  • Current lease/rental agreement (signed by landlord and tenant)

In addition, the school will need one of the following:

  • Current gas or electric utility bill (name and address must be included)
  • Occupancy permit which lists all the occupants of the residence

Regardless of the documents that may be available, simply owning or renting property within District boundaries does not establish residency; the primary criterion is the location of the family’s actual domicile.

The District may request additional proof or to employ other means to verify residency. Under Missouri law, misrepresenting residency is a misdemeanour. If a family’s residency status changes or is found to be inaccurately represented, the District may act to recover the cost of services provided.
