$42,000 Facebook Fellowship Program / for PhD Students

Facebook Fellowship Program is open to full-time PhD students (domestic and international) enrolled during the current academic year and studying computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, system architecture, or a related area.

To apply successfully, kindly read through this piece to learn the full details about this program- the eligibility criteria, requirements, application deadline, and more. The table below will give you an overview of what you should expect.

About the Facebook Fellowship Program:

The Facebook Fellowship is a global program designed to encourage and support promising doctoral students who are engaged in innovative and relevant research in areas related to computer science and engineering at an accredited university.

The program is open to students in any year of their PhD study. We also encourage people of diverse backgrounds and experiences to apply, especially those from traditionally underrepresented minority groups. Applications are evaluated based on the strength of the student’s research statement, publication record, and recommendation letters.

Winners of the Fellowship are entitled to receive two years of paid tuition and fees, a $42,000 annual stipend to cover living and conference travel costs, a paid visit to Facebook headquarters for the annual Fellowship Summit, and various opportunities to engage with Facebook researchers.

Giving people the power to share and connect requires constant innovation. At Facebook, research permeates everything we do.

We believe the most exciting research questions are derived from real-world problems. The engineers work on cutting-edge research with a practical focus and push product boundaries daily.

We believe that close relationships with the academic community will enable the fellowship board to address many of these problems at a fundamental level and solve them.

Facebook PhD Fellowship Program – Meta Research PhD Fellowship

The Meta Research PhD Fellowship is an international initiative to promote and encourage bright doctoral candidates conducting cutting-edge, pertinent research in computer science and engineering at recognized academic institutions.

Students in any year of their PhD studies are eligible for the program. We also invite applicants from various backgrounds and experiences, particularly those of historically underrepresented minority groups. Applicants are assessed based on the quality of the applicant’s research statement, a record of publications, and letters of recommendation.

The Fellowship includes two years of free education and fees, a $42,000 stipend each year to cover living expenses, several opportunities to interact with Meta researchers, and an invitation to the annual Fellowship Conference.

Rights to Research

Since the Fellowship program’s inception, we have financed more than 200 students from all over the world, and we are pleased to continue helping outstanding PhD researchers in a range of technology study fields. The Meta Research PhD program aims to interact with our Fellowship winners, learn alongside them, and identify new business prospects.

Meta makes no ownership claim regarding any work produced during or as a result of the Fellowship. The results of every study the Fellow conducts are his or her property. Should the Fellow do an internship or consult while a Fellow, this does not include any work done while Meta employed them.

Eligibility Criteria

If you meet the following requirements, you may apply for the program:

  • After the application cycle, enrolled in a PhD program at a recognized university (i.e., Fall 2023).
  • carried out computer science and engineering-related research in Meta-relevant fields, as described in the Available Fellowships section
  • Students from all approved universities worldwide are eligible for the program.

If any of the following apply to you:

  • Each application cycle, graduating before the fall.
  • Considering part-time employment for a rival business while participating in the Fellowship.
  • a Meta contract employee. We are unable to pay the stipend and the CW wage simultaneously.
  • An AI Meta Resident
  • A part-time internship with a rival is something you intend to accomplish during the academic year (fall/spring). You can complete a training at a different company either in the summer leading up to Fellowship or in the summer that follows Fellowship. Extensions of internships into the fall are included.

Candidates whose research falls outside the defined research fields listed in the Available Fellowships section will not be eligible for prizes. To ensure you are connected with the appropriate study area, please carefully read the descriptions of each Open Fellowship.

Currently, we cannot offer to finance to undergraduates, graduates in various fields, or alternative support like minor awards.

How to Apply

Application Materials Must Contain:

Resume or a curriculum vitae: The CV or resume is not subject to a page limit. A longer CV could complement your accomplishments or any publications you’d like to highlight.

Research statement: Statements of Research should be no more than 500 words and specify your area of interest, its significance to the discipline, and how it relates to Meta as it relates to one of the Fellowships currently open. The 500-word limit includes references and citations. References and citations, which don’t have a word or page limit on CVs, should be included to maximize the word count for research assertions.

Two recommendation letters: A PhD adviser or a research advisor must write one of the letters of recommendation. The other can come from a different professor or a professional acquaintance.

See Application Suggestions below for advice on applying Fellows and Meta reviewers.
