In order to comb this challenge, the Federal government of Nigeria provides what is known as Federal Government Scholarship for Nigerian Undergraduate, Masters, and Ph.D. students.

Why the Federal Government Scholarship Board?

The Federal Scholarship Board FSB is a committee set up by the federal ministry of education under the law to regulate every scholarship program, exchange programs for Nigerian students, bilateral exchange agreement scholarship awards for Nigeria students, embassy scholarships, and other scholarship opportunities for Nigerian students.

It is the responsibility of the Federal Government Scholarship board to carry out scholarship verification exercises for Scholarships like the Federal Government Scholarship for Nigerian students to study abroad.

The Federal Scholarship Board choose scholars who are eligible to study in various countries to represent Nigeria.

They make laws governing the Award of Scholarships in Nigeria. This is achieved through the approval of the Ministry of Education in Nigeria.

Federal Government Scholarship Award 2023 Tenable in Nigerian Tertiary Institutions

Federal Ministry of Education is making available offers the Federal Government Scholarship for qualified Nigerian Students in Nigerian Public tertiary institutions to take part in the 2023 selection interviews for scholarship awards tenable in Nigerian tertiary institutions.

Eligibility Criteria

The following are eligible for Federal Government Scholarship Award:

  • Applicants for Postgraduate studies should possess a minimum of first degree with Second Class Honors, Upper Division.
  • All other applicants (UG, HND & NCE) must be registered Full-Time students in their second year or above in Federal or State University, Polytechnics, Monotechnics and Colleges of Education.
  • For all Undergraduate scholarship applicants, (Physically Challenged Inclusive) must be in their second year or above and have at least 4.0 Cumulative Grade Points Aggregate (CGPA) on a five (5) point scale or its equivalent.

General Information on Federal Government Scholarship

  • The scholarship is tenable in Nigeria and takes effect from the beginning of the academic session.
  • It shall not be held at the same time with another Award nor for part-time students.
  • Change of course or institution not allowed.
  • The scholarship award is to assist the scholar in the payment of (a) Institution charges and fees and (b) Personal maintenance.

  • Written Scholarship interviews are held at the Federal Government College in each State Capital.

  • Northern Zone: (North East, North Central and North West)
  • Interview Venues: Federal Government Colleges or Unity Schools in each State capital including FCT.

 Application Requirements for Federal Government Scholarship

  • Submit and Print a copy
  • Attach Photocopy of the following documents to the printed copy:
    • Letter of admission
    • Current Course Registration Form
    • Last sessional CGPA RESULT
    • Current School’s identity card
    • Letter of identification from your State/Local government.
    • Two(2) passport size photographs with your name written at the back and duly signed by you.
    • Note: Printed copy should be endorsed (signed and stamped) by your HOD or Dean of Faculty of your institution.
    • Submit two sets of the printed and endorsed form at the venue of the interviews as scheduled above

Note

  • Eligible candidates are advised to make only one entry as multiple entries will be disqualified.
  • Candidates are allowed to attend interviews in centers nearest to them irrespective of the State of origin and Institution of domicile of candidates
