Prospective students with qualifications earned neither in Germany nor from a German education institution must meet the following requirements for undergraduate (bachelor’s) degree programs:

  1. University Entrance Qualification (in German; Hochschulzugangsberechtigung (HZB)): Applicants who did not earn your HZB in Germany should apply through uni-assist because it establishes equivalency based on official guidelines from the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs, the German Rector’s Conference and the Central Office for Foreign Education.
  2. Language requirements: Applicants must prove that they can follow the language of the degree program at an advanced level. This requires an internationally recognized language certificate, so if you apply to a degree program taught in English, your certificate must be in English. 3. Proof of a completed preparatory internship: This requirement must be met before the 4th-semester enrolment deadline. More information can be found in the examination regulations of the individual degree programs. Numerus Clausus degree programs (N.C.) rely on a selection process when the number of applicants exceeds the available seats.

The requirements for admission to study for postgraduate (master’s) degree programs include:

  1. A professionally qualifying first degree in the same or a related field to the desired master’s degree program.
  2. The final cumulative grade for the professionally qualifying first degree must meet the minimum grade requirement set for the desired program (refer to the application process for master’s degree programs);
  3. The Language requirement demands that applicants possess an English language certificate for degree programs taught in English, and a German language certificate for programs in German. Please see the application process for master’s degree programs for more information.
