Until 2010, Sweden was one of the few countries in Europe where you can study for free. Then, the Swedish government passed a law that establishes enrollment and registration costs for students from non-EU / EEA countries, which will be supplemented by Swedish scholarship programs. A significant number of Swedish universities still offer scholarships in the form of tuition waivers for international students.

Swedish Institute Scholarships for Global Professionals

Scholarships at the Swedish Institute for International Professionals (SISGP) are aimed at highly qualified students from some countries and are awarded for full-time master’s studies in Sweden. It covers tuition fees, the cost of living, and insurance. Read more


The Visby Programme Scholarships

The Visby program offers several comprehensive scholarships for master’s programs in Sweden to students from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Russia, and Ukraine. The BTH scholarship program for future students is intended for citizens of non-EU / EEA countries who must pay tuition fees for Swedish university studies. A limited number of tuition waivers will be available for citizens of non-EU / EEA / EFTA countries who must pay tuition fees and who have applied for a master’s program at KTH. If a scholarship is granted, tuition fees will not be applied during the entire duration of the program. Read more

The scholarships of the University of Linnaeus are intended for students from countries outside the EU / EEA and Switzerland who have applied for a degree program at the University of Linnaeus. Each year, the University of Mälardalen offers a limited number of scholarships to students from countries outside the EU / EEA / Switzerland who must pay tuition fees and who apply for a master’s program at the University as their first choice. The scholarship will cover 100% of the tuition fees for the program, as long as it follows the normal course of study. The scholarship does not cover living expenses. Read more

Mid Sweden University Tuition Fee Scholarships

All students who have applied for a master’s program at the University of Mid Sweden and who must pay tuition fees are invited to apply for a scholarship for enrollment at this university. The scholarship is a reduction of 70,000 SEK or 250,000 SEK depending on the chosen program. Read more
