Sugar Spun Run is proud to announce that it will be offering a $500 scholarship to a high school senior or college student who authors a winning essay for the Annual Sugar Spun Scholarship 2023.

Level/Field of Study

This Sugar Spun scholarship is open to students in the first year, transfer students, undergraduate, and graduate students.

Host Nationality

Sugar Spun Run, a food blog owned by a US-based baker, Sarah, is dedicated to sharing sweet, simple, and from-scratch recipes.

Eligible Nationality

This scholarship is open to US citizens and legal residents.

Scholarship Worth

The winner of the Sugar Spun Scholarship 2022 will be awarded $500, which will be paid directly to the recipient and must be used exclusively for tuition and related expenses.

Eligibility

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must adhere to the following criteria:

  • Students must be registered or admitted to a US college or university or are able to present a legitimate letter of acceptance from an accredited U.S. university or college.
  • Applicants must accept the Official Sugar Spun scholarship rules and follow all instructions to be considered.

The winner must be able to provide evidence of participation in a bachelor or graduate program.

How to Apply

To apply, applicants must submit an essay of not more than 1000 words written in English(the originality of the essay is considered).

Also, applicants are to save and send their electronic submissions in Word or PDF format (preferably PDF).

Students can apply once a year, and the winner must provide proof of registration before the scholarship is awarded.

The application may be submitted via mail or email.  Emailed applications must include “Scholarship Application” in the subject line and must be sent to [email protected].

Both e-mailed applications and mailed applications must include the following above the essay:

  • Your full name
  • Your email address
  • Phone number
  • Mailing address
  • The school that you are attending or intend to attend

Evaluation Criteria

Essays are judged on their originality, creativity, style, grammar, punctuation and spelling, and adherence to the essay prompt.

Essay Prompt

Applicants should write an essay based on one of the following prompts:

  • Your most memorable meal
  • A life lesson learned through eating
  • If you could eat with someone from history, alive or dead, who would you choose and why? Add the food you would serve.

The Essay should be titled with the prompt you have chosen.

Application Deadline

The deadline for submissions is 11:59 pm EST on August 1st, 2023.

However, the winner will be announced on or around August 15th, 2023, and will receive a notification by e-mail or phone.
